One day at Tree Hill High after Lucas's basketball game Lorelai and Jamie find him.
''Daddy!'' Jamie says and goes flying into his arms
''hey buddy!'' Lucas says and picks him up and holds him
''hey how ya doing Lorelai?'' Lucas asks her
''good good.'' she tells him
''that's good.'' he says and smiles
''yea so good game.'' she tells him
''oh thanks.'' he says
''you scored the winning shot daddy!'' Jamie tells him
''I sure did bud!'' Lucas tells him
''were you good for Grandma this afternoon bud?'' Lucas asks him
''he sure was like he always is.'' she tells him and smiles
''good that's good.'' he says
''so have you talked to Rory
''ah no not recently I was thinking of calling her soon to meet up and have lunch with her or something.'' she tells him
''oh good.'' he says
''have you talked to her?'' Lorelai asks him
''uh yea late the other night in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep she was online.'' he tells her
''she was online in the middle of the night?'' Lorelai asks him
''yea.'' he says
''what were the 2 of you doing up in the middle of the night and online for?'' she asks him
''trying to work on and get back to my writing.'' he tells her
''oh so how's that going?'' she asks him
''it's not.'' he tells her
''oh I'm sorry what happened?'' she asks him
''I don't know I guess I just lost interest in it I guess.'' he tells her
