Disclaimer Note: This is a work of fan fiction, so I do not own any of the characters being used. This also means that this story will not necessarily contain any ingenious plot twists of writing class because it merely serves as writing practice and an indulgence of a fanfiction concept termed "the muse."
Author's Note: I wrote this incredibly short thing after recieving inspiration from the story 'Lieder Ohne Musik' so I decided to write on the concept of Rogue never being adopted by Mystique, but in fact being her biological daughter, making her and Kurt twin siblings.

(( The Price of Nothing )) by Christy S.

As loathe as I am to admit it, my memory fails me. I recall forever being scorned due to my blue skin and glowing yellow eyes, but I can't remember when it began. Not that it ever provided any problems for me, though. My ability to shape-shift always took care of that.
But I knew from the moment they were born, that my children would not have it so easy. Rogue- or Marie- as is on her birth certificate, had that single white blaze of hair. Easy enought for a passerby to ignore. Kurt, however, was the spitting image of myself.. with no way of changing his appearance.
I suppose I couldn't help feeling some kind of motherly instincts. It took some doing, but I eventually managed to get a family in Germany to adopt my son. Not that I ever let any one know I was involved with the arrangements of the adoption. With Rogue, it was easy. My old friend Irene was more that willing to take her in.
Perhaps I did have some selfish motives in my actions. After all, I must admit I did not want the burdens of rasing them myself. And Magneto would have no patience for a single-mother agent. Giving them up was partially his influence. Maybe it is childish to blame him at all for that desicsion, but it pacifies me.
A few years prior to their birth, I ran in with one Victor Creed, also called Sabertooth. From him, Graydon was born. My twins don't know of their older brother, and I pray they never will. This is given due to his anti-mutant politics.. for Graydon, you see, is not a mutant himself. At least, not to my knowledge.
Politics is his obsession. Combine that with the fact that he is far from pro-mutant, and I may have to kill him someday. If I do, I won't regret it. Perhaps that is my heartless side.
Rogue and Kurt will tell you that I abandoned them. That is not true. They will tell you that I did not want them. That may have been true. I want them now, though. Not just as pawns for Magneto, but I want my twins back, my family back. So who among us will you believe?

Finale Author's Notes: If you liked it, review. If you didn't like it, review. If you feel lazy, that's no excuse, at least you didn't have to write the story! If anyone doesn't understand the 'Graydon Creed' thing, then I suggest you go your nearest comic book store and find the back-issue of 'X-men Unlimited' #4. It's a great story for Rogue and Kurt fans. If you don't read the comics, go get the issue anyway, maybe I'll get you as hooked on the things as I am. Any ideas, ya'll of what I should write next? Reviews mucho appreciated! ^-^ Adieu!
