Authors Note: I'd like to thank Neurotic Temptress since w/out her, this first fic (and it is my first) would never have been posted.
Story Notes: Yeah, it's a Lancity. Kurt's kind of depicted as Kitty's best friend here. A little weird, I guess, but I *am* weird. Oh, and I *had* to write that part about Rogue running off w/Remy! ^-^
Disclaimer: Yeah they're not mine, but I'm a minor, ya can't sue! So what are you lawyer-boys gonna do about it?
((Path of More Resistance)) by Christy S.
The whole mansion was in an uproar. Feelings of betrayal swept all about. Not Kitty... they had seen it coming with Rogue, surely... but not Kitty.
Rogue had run off with a long time ago with that cajun boy. She'd written a few times, but never accepted letters back, knowing full well that their sole purpose was to beg her to return. She'd always been a loner, and Remy had such an obvious interest in her, there had been no surprise when she deserted them all for him. But not Kitty...
The whole mansion was in an uproar with the exception of one lone occupant: Rogue's brother. The 'blue fuzzy dude' as he called himself, sat on his bed, opening the letter that had been left for him under his door. It read as thus:
Dear Kurt,
I know the whole mansion will probably, like be in an uproar, or something, but not you. You were the only one there who was always able to really understand me. Everybody will probably say that "Kitty doesn't run away" or "Kitty's the innocent one" and in a way, I guess I still am. I haven't officially joined the brotherhood. And I haven't unnoficially joined the brotherhood because I want to do bad things. I just want to be with Lance.
He tried to come to the mansion, but everyone else just kept throwing it back in his face. I thought they were my friends and I thought they'd welcome somone who was honestly willing to change for the good, for me. But apparently, I thought wrong.
They did everything to reject him. Till, finally, he had to run away. But, I can't reject him. Why? I love him. Sure everybody can say that I'm having a crush. Everybody can say that I like the thrill of dating the 'bad boy'. And everybody can say that I'll be back.
But, this feels stronger than that; he isn't bad; and until they realize they're in the wrong, I won't be coming back. So, until then, I'm going to be found with Tolensky, Dukes, Maximoff, and of course... Alvers. You won't be seeing me on the battle field, but if any of my new 'teammates' get hurt, I'll probably be the one playing nurse till they get better. So, in a way I will be working for Magneto and your mother. But that, along with Lance, is something I can live with.
Love,
Kitty Pryde
Kurt Wagner closed the letter, and put it back in it's envelope. He opened the first of his dresser drawers, and placed her letter next to Rogue's. He was careful to lower his voice, so the others coudn't hear the things he said. Things like "Goodbye, Frauline." and "Take care of her, Lance".
So, what do you think? I can't tell if you don't review! As the finale notes; 1st, I think the reason Kitty uses the word "like" all the time is because she has trouble thinking of what to say next. I don't think she would have this problem in writing, so I didn't include so much of it. 2nd, I like the idea of Rogue and Kurt being close with the whole brother/sister thing, so I had her write a letter to him too. 3rd, If ya'll want to know what was in Rogue's letter, ya have to review and beg me to do a sequel! ^.~ Ciao!
