I do realize I'm staring but I'm helpless to stop. It's his fault anyway, he shouldn't be so beautiful. Even nature's against me; the sun's rays caress his face and the wind twirls the strands of his hair like a lover's fingers.
He spots me and smiles, before going back to the 1st years he was tutoring. I squelch a surge of jealousy; I had no rights to his attention, he's as much everyone else's as he is mine. If I wasn't such a coward maybe that would change; but I doubt it, face it, he's him and I'm me. He'd probably laugh, no that's a lie he'd be incredibly understanding all the way up to the point when he rejected me. Though I may be many things, a fool is not one of them and I realize that I could soon have to confess my love. I tried to be careful but people were starting to catch on and if James gives me one more smug look I would not be held responsible for my actions.
A few weeks later
Remus was hurrying down a corridor trying to get to the Gryffindor tower before curfew, when suddenly someone grabbed him and pulled him into a dusty, unused classroom.
"What? Sirius?" Remus squinted in the dim lighting.
Just like drinking a potion, do it fast and don't think about the taste. "I think I love you."
Remus's eyes bulged comically, "Y-You think you what me?" He was taking this a lot better than I thought he would, I suppose the disgust would come later.
"I love you and I'm sorry because I probably just ended the marauders with this speech but, damn it Remus, even if I could stop loving you I wouldn't. But as it is, I could no more stop this then I could cut off my own arm."
Remus was quiet for a while, he let out a sigh and then he took a few hesitant steps in my direction. I closed my eyes in preparation for the rejection that was surely coming. Soft lips pressed against mine before pulling away and whispering, "It's about damned time."
