Title: Flight
Rating FR-15
Characters: Up to the imagination...
Summary: A trek back to the crime scene in the woods turns into a flight for his life, from an invisible creature.
Notes: The character and the creature are left up to the reader's imagination. Written for the "Hundred Word Horror" Challenge. I may write a few drabbles with a horror theme, so I'll do a separate comment thread, and house all of them here.
Happy Halloween!
He could hear its angry cries as he ran through the dark woods. His feet crunched dead leaves and twigs involuntarily. The creature moved stealthily, stalking its prey.
The woods were a dark abyss, and, in his confusion, he stopped running. His breath fogged in front of him as he realized that there were no car headlights to guide his way.
He was lost.
The creature's growls grew closer. He started running again, only to catch his foot on a protruding stone.
The creature advanced as he lay helpless on the forest floor.
A shrill cry and a gunshot filled the silence.
