Hogwarts was a very good place to be at Christmas. There were millions of Christmas trees. Some small, some huge and all covered with decorations. Suits of armour sung Christmas carols whenever anyone passed and Peeves found it a great pleasure to hide inside the armour and sing rude words to 'Jingle Bells' or 'Silent Night'. Around the school hung masses of mistletoe to induce a Christmas romance. So far it was working. As Harry walked around the school, he saw pairs kissing underneath it. Parvati and Dean the West Ham fan. Lavender and Seamus. Cho and Malfoy. Harry shuddered. Whenever he saw Cho kissing Malfoy it brought anger as he, Harry liked Cho an awful lot.
"What on earth does she see in him?" he asked himself daily.
One Saturday, Harry, Ron and Hermione were walking down to Hogsmeade, about to buy Christmas presents. Suddenly, Ron stopped, as did Hannah Abbot, a blonde girl from Hufflepuff. Harry looked up.
"Oh dear." He said to Hermione, looking above Ron and Hannah's heads. There hung a large branch of mistletoe. Ron looked at Hannah.
"Oh go on Hannah!" said Hannah's friend, Susan Bones giggling furiously. Ron turned roughly the same colour as a tomato, as did Hannah.
"Go on Ron!" shouted Hermione, gaining them the attention of most in the Entrance Hall, where they were standing. Ron gave her a murderous stare, which she replied with a sarcastic smile. However Ron had no time to reply because Hannah had kissed him and he seemed to be enjoying it.
Harry shook his head, grinning at Hermione.
"Go Ron." He said quietly, feeling lonely.
"She's fancied him for ages." Said Susan to Harry and Hermione.
"Really?" asked Hermione.
"So, how about you and Potter boy here?" Susan asked loftily..
"Oh, no." said Hermione, "Just friends."
"I wouldn't be too sure." Advised Susan walking away.
Harry looked up. There hung a branch of mistletoe.
" Aw Heck!" he groaned but he found Hermione's lips on his before he could move.
"Well." Thought Harry, "Maybe Christmas won't be too bad after all!"
