Faux moonshine shone down onto the sleeping form of the lancer dressed only in silk black sheets, the thick locks of hair concealing his face from the gaze of his beloved. Across the room stood Xigbar, smiling gently. Next to Xaldin a book lay forgotten and the desk lamp still cast a soft, warm glow over the room. He had propped himself up with pillows, doing everything he could to ensure he was awake for the arrival of the Freeshooter concluding a two-week mission. Xigbar walked over and tapped out the lamp, tossing the book across the room and carefully laying down atop him to bask in the tenderness he had craved. Burying his nose in Xaldin's neck he inhaled deep the lancer's scent, husky and rich with traces of fresh shampoo. This was what he had been waiting for all this time, this is what made the endless missions worthwhile. The chance to come back home and cradle Xaldin in his arms as he had done when his heart still raced with life.
"Mnn.. Xigbar?" Xaldin's eyes slid open, violet slits gazing down into the single golden orb. "You're home.."
"Sure am." Xigbar slid up and slowly pressed their lips together, savoring the sweet taste that was unmistakably his Xaldin. A soft noise left Xaldin and the other relaxed back into the pillows, his mind slowly numbing as they kissed deep and passionate. Nothing had changed since their days as somebodies. Everything, his voice, his touch, his smile, remained untouched by the darkness.
"I tried to wait for you." Xaldin reached back and undid the ponytail, raking his fingers through the long strands.
"I see that. It's alright Xal, I didn't expect to be back so late either." Xigbar chuckled as the eyepatch was pulled away and replaced by Xaldin's lips, his tongue gently tracing over the scar rippling a tiny shiver through him. It felt so damn good to be home. He didn't need a heart to be whole. In Xigbar's mind, he already was. This was all he needed. A nice warm bed where he could curl up with Xaldin and drown in the violet depths all night long if he wanted to.
Xigbar nuzzled the fuzzy cheeks, cackling as the lancer grumbled in protest. "You're so fuzzy!"
"Stop that!" Regardless, Xaldin couldn't help but smile at Xigbar's antics. He held the other tight and showered his face in soft kisses, content to just have the Xigbar back where he belonged. It had been a painfully slow two weeks. He didn't know how much longer his patience would hold out, everyday there was someone bitching at someone else normally for something utterly ridiculous. A heavy sigh left Xaldin as he stroked Xigbar's hair gently, listening to the other man purr.
"You're tense." Xigbar looked back up with that all-knowing eye. Xaldin couldn't hide anything from him. They'd been together far too long.
"Yes, I am. I tire of the fools and their incessant antics." Xaldin's eyes fluttered as the warm, wet mouth once on his lips now trailed down his bare chest.
"Betcha I could make ya feel better..." Xigbar caught the sheet in his teeth, tossing it aside with a broad smirk. "I see you missed me too."
"Of course I did." Xaldin propped himself up on his knees, deftly peeling away Xigbar's coat and pressing up into him with a soft moan. His body arced and shuddered as Xigbar's hands roamed and their mouths clashed, succumbing to the wild heat seizing his lower body. Xigbar mounted him and grinned a wicked little grin behind the curtain of long hair that made him look almost elfish. Xaldin returned the devious smirk, spreading his legs and throwing back his head as they became whole again.
"Welcome home baby..."
