One evening after getting home from a mission, I heard a knock on the door. I looked at the clock, 10:45pm. Who would be visiting at this time of night?
I opened the door and there stood my long term boyfriend, Nara Shikamaru.
"Hey Shika, what are you doing here at this hour?" I asked him.
"I had to see you... so I waited around until you got home."
"Why? is something wrong?" I asked.
"No, Everything is perfect. Come take a walk with me." He said and he took my hand.
"I just got home from a mission. I gotta get up early to report to Lady Tsunami."
"It wont take long. Im happy to see that your home safe!" He said softly. "I missed you."
This seemed unusual for him. I got a little suspisious but I took his hand and I closed the door behind me.
"I missed you too! So where are we walking to?" I asked.
"Our hill."
"Okay."I said and we walked toward the direction. I looked up and the moon was Full, Big, and Bright. "The moon is beautiful tonight."
"Yes." He said but he was looking at the ground.
"Are you sure that nothing is wrong?" I asked. He shoved his hands in his pockets and smiled.
"Why would anything be wrong?"
"I have no idea... Something about you just seems...off tonight." I said shrugging.
I looped my arm with his and we approached our hill in silence. We stood at the top and I looked around at the sky. It was littered with bright stars and the moon was right above us, I felt calm until Shikamaru let go of my arm. I looked at him and I smiled at him. I saw he had a little hint of pink on his cheeks. I smirked at him.
"Are you feeling alright?" I asked. "You look like you have a fever.."
He smirked back at me and he kissed my forehead.
"I love you, Akime.." He said. I smiled lightly.
"I love you too, Shikamaru." I said. He took his hands out of his pockets, clenched.
He took a deep breath and I rose an eyebrow at him.
"I have to ask you something..." He mumbled. "But first I have to tell you something... Dont laugh at me."
"...I wont.. Promise!" I said somewhat took one of his hands and held mine. He seemed nervous as well...
"We have been friends for about 12 years now and have been dating for almost 4 of them. I have loved you for about 9 years... " He said slowly, looking into my eyes. My heart started to beat really fast. He continued..."I dont know what I would do without you. You have taught me that I don't have to settle for simple and ordinary.. I didn't think that I would fall for a woman so extraordinary and so beautiful but I did and I have the urge to protect you for the rest of my life... " I bit my lower lip. "Akemi, I need to have you by my side. I want to have a family with you." He sqeezed my hand as he lowered down on one knee. I quickly covered my mouth so i dont scream. He smirked at me and he unclenched his other hand revealing a delicate sapphire ring. "Akemi..Will you marry me and become my wife?"
I lowered my hand and I fell on my knees. "Yes, Of course!"
He smiled and he put the ring on my left ring finger. I glomped him to the ground.
"I love you, Shika! Oh my god!"
He held on to me and kissed my forehead. "I love you too, Akemi." He said softly.
We just laid in the grass looking up at the stars and moon until we fell asleep in each others arms. We slept the whole night under the perfect night sky.
