Bending over his agitated form "Holmes! Holmes!" I implored. Desperately hoping to bring him back to reality after his thirst for first hand knowledge had once again almost killed him and myself. Having recently returned to my own sense of self, I could only imagine the horrors his mind was inflicting upon him. Fear rolled through me as he clawed at his own eyes obviously trying to rid himself of the images.
I barely survived his " death" at the falls all those years ago, now as I watched him battle his own mind I knew without a doubt I would not , could not live if he lost his mind. "John!" he cried, with recognition dawning clearly in his eyes. My Christian Name, vocalized with so much relief. His hands reaching up to grasp my neck in acknowledgment of his return to the here and now. I heard guilt in his voice as he admitted to his error in putting myself once more in harms way. .. I know not what I said in return for when his hand grasp my shoulder I did what I had so long dreamed of doing.
