Vincent as surprised to find Cid sitting with Reno and Tseng as they madly scribbled away on blank pieces of paper.
"Might I inquire what is going on?" Vincent asked, joining his ex-comrades as was a habit of his.
"It's Shera's birthday and all she wants is a romantic poem from me; fuck me" Cid said, messing up his already disheveled hair as he balled up another piece of paper and went to toss it until Tifa's sharp carmine gaze caught his and he neatly dropped it into the already overflowing wastebasket she had provided for him earlier.
"I got it!" Reno said and read out:
"My Shera is my personal Venus and I make her happy with my penis
I always get her really slick so that she she cums real quick
And call me a sucker that I really love to fuck…." He read out.
"If I didn't know that you're just naturally an insensitive douche, I would punch you in the nose for insulting my wife like that!" Cid barked, taking the paper from him and ripping it and it joined the other papers. Until Tifa poignantly took the basket and upended it into her large garbage can behind the bar and put the smaller one down with an audible thump that earned sheepish grins from the would-be poetry scholars.
"Hey I'm just trying to help, man!" Reno protested the treatment of his muse inspired prose while staring after Tifa's departing butt and his muse pumped out more verses as a tribute to its perfection.
"Try helping less" Cid snarled back at him, snapping him back to reality.
"I think I have something" Tseng interrupted.
He read out:
"You are woman and I am man
Now we have established our genders
We are legally bound by martial ties and own community property together
I care about you as a husband should in an appropriate way that doesn't involve you wearing humiliating costumes to entice me when we have intercourse
You are my spouse in every way that matters and I promise to keep supporting you as you have no income to contribute to the household, as you haven't for a while now, even before our marriage.
Happy Natal Day
Thank you for being mine" he finished.
"Isn't that a little….dull?" Cid asked him.
"I thought it appropriate, it's romantic and sums up your legal responsibilities to yourself and her" Tseng explained.
"It doesn't even rhyme, yo" Reno ventured.
Vincent looked up from where he had been writing.
"Give her this. I'm suddenly not in the mood for company" he said and walked out.
Cid read out:
"I was lost until I found you.
I shared many different beds with women whose names never mattered, until you.
It was your arms that sheltered me, your body that awoken me to hope of more and your lips that whispered; "you're home."
Me, who had drifted so long and done things that tore my very soul to shreds.
I was barely half a man who dwelt in shadows until you brought me into the light and gave me a home in your heart and kept mine safe in your love. You made me the man I am today and I love you to eternity and back as I forever bask in the light of your love."
"It's perfect" Cid said. "I don't know if Lucrecia was the worst thing or best thing that ever happened to Vincent sometimes" Cid said in a mysteriefied voice.
"The worst; but special enough that he still loves her" Tseng said.
"To love and hope you're happy when you find it as I did" Cid said, madly copying the ex-TURKS poem into his own handwriting.
"I can't be bothered…." Reno scoffed.
"It will happen" both other men agreed and then clinked glasses as the other man didn't look convinced.
