Remember Me
Nobody saw him. Nobody saw him as anything else than the saint who put up with House. And the diagnostician, who didn't miss anything, didn't saw how depressed Wilson was. House didn't notice how much weight he had lost, that there was no spark in the oncologists eyes anymore.
Wilson could put up with much, but even he had a breaking point. So when he got burnout everything started to go downhill. He stopped taking his antidepressants and he stopped eating. Cuddy noticed that he looked tired, but she knew that his patientload was particulary high at the moment so she didn't say anyting. How she would regret that...
Cameron was the only one that confronted him about it. She asked him if he was alright and if he wanted to talk. He thanked her and said that he had had trouble sleeping lately, but that he was alright. She belived him. Later, she wished that she hadn't.
(Flashback)
He sat on the bed. He had thought this trough so many times that he wasn't even scared anymore. He knew that comitting suicide was one of the biggest sins a Jew could commit, if not the biggest. But he wanted this so badly, he needed the relief so much.
That was why he sat on his bed with a bottle of sleeping pills and a bottle of scotch. Soon all the pain would be gone and he would be free...
(End Flashback)
It was House who found him, of course. Wilson was late and he never was late, especially without calling Cuddy with a perfect good reason, an apology and a time when he would come in. So when Cuddy told House that she had called both Wilsons cellphone, his regular phone and paged him without success, he became a little worried.
Cuddy told him to go to Wilsons apartment and see if he was there. So after telling his ducklings that he would be back in half an hour, he rode his bike to his only friends apartment.
When House found him, he had been dead for over 48 hours. Everyone was shocked and upset that the Boy Wonder Oncologist, Dr. James Wilson, had committed suicide.
Cuddy blamed herself for not talking to him when she saw clear signs that something was wrong.
Cameron wished she could turn back time and change her conversation with him. She wished that she hadn't been so naïve...
House was devastated. He didn't eat, sleep or change clothes for a few days.
The day before Wilsons funeral they found him dead in his apartment.
He had shot himself in the head with a gun nobody knew he had.
Cuddy, Cameron, Chase and Foreman weren't surprised. They just wished that they had known about the gun so they could have prevented it.
House and Wilson got their ashes spread out at the courtyard at the hospital. Illegal, of course. Cuddy and the others had a funeral of their own in the middle of the night.
Wilson was also in a graveyard, since that was his parents wish. He hadn't written a will, and if he had, everything would have gotten to House anyway. Foreman had somehow managed to get some of Wilsons ashes, so he was resting at two places.
The ducklings got other jobs, but they always remebered what House had taught them and Cuddy remained Dean of Medicine until she retired. She would never forget two of her best friends, or to pay attention if anyone seemed depressed...
