Vicki sat down for breakfast, but was surprised no one else was around. The door opened and Roger pushed it open and took a seat next to her.

She looked up, scared about how Roger might treat her after last night.

He accidentally brushed his hand across hers when he went to grab an orange from the fruit bowl.

Vicki pulled her hand back. "Oh, I'm sorry"

Roger smiled at her and started to peel the orange. "There's nothing to be sorry about, kitten"

He handed Vicki a piece of his orange. Vicki stared at the orange, unsure of what Roger was feeling. She looked into his eyes, and saw that his smile wasn't that of when he bedded one of the town bimbos.

It was a genuine smile. A smile one makes when they are actually happy to be around the person of whom they are aiming the smile.

Vicki smiled and took the orange between her delicate fingers. She popped it into her mouth and tried to keep the juices from running down her chin.

After she ate the orange, her attention turned back to Roger. "Thank you for everything."

Roger smiled at her, while he got up from the table. He leaned down, touched her neck, and placed a kiss on her cheek.

Vicki watched Roger walk away and some of her worries flew out the door with him, but others will always remain, no matter how much he proves himself otherwise.

She knew the night before had been a mistake, but seeing how Roger seemed to care about her, made her feel less likely to run to her room and hide. She still needed to see if maybe this relationship could make another relationship of Roger's better than it currently was.

She knows David needs someone, even if Roger can't seem to see it. That boy loves his father, and Vicki hopes getting what she wants helps David get what he most deserves out of life.
