Arrogance

Knock Out never ceased to bewilder Breakdown sometimes. His obsession with how good he looked, especially in his alt mode, and his experiments were one thing, but as long as he had been his assistant, he always figured that there was another layer to the scientist. Knock Out's diatribe on the uncleanness of the fleshlings and how unnatural they were compared to the Decepticons was something he had known for vorns, something that they had in common at least, other than relishing battle whenever a chance to break anything or fight the Autobots came up.

Sure, Breakdown was not one to be modest – that would not have been like the true Decepticon he was. However, Knock Out was the one to not boast about his skills as a doctor and a scientist any chance he got. Every little detail to an experiment, be it a spare part or a living organism such as themselves, had to be something to be proud of, be it just medic work or disassembly, something that Breakdown knew that Knock Out took great delight into. Breaking apart a whole being into pieces, to see the mechanics of it all, and to see what made it work the way it did. Breakdown himself only broke things, and would fight because he knew he could, because he wanted to, and above all, he knew that he can, without any second thoughts in his processor.

They both knew that they took pride in what they did, that they were far more superior to the pitiful humans, who are just begging to be broken. They were disgusting animals who were parasites upon the planet, pets to the Autobots, nothing but what stood in the way of becoming a planet for the great Decepticons. Their filthy blood paled in comparison to Energon, which was far more powerful than any other lifeblood.

The medic's ongoing quest for perfection in his work, upon the Nemesis ship, and in the very army, was never ceasing, and from what the warrior saw, it had no end in sight, not from his optics. It was very much like his own goal to crush any bot or anything that wasn't a Decepticon, as they were enemies to their cause and had to be destroyed. It was either that, or you were as weak as your very opponents, the very obstacle in the way of victory.

At times, Breakdown couldn't tell how vain Knock Out was. He was always seeking more ways to show off his alt mode, in his vehicle form, not that it mattered where it was the best to show off. Sometimes the warrior wondered if the medic even knew he was there, especially if he was right beside him, as he would be so vain that he wouldn't even notice.

Anything that Breakdown would kill, break, destroy, maim, crush, anything of the sort, it was vital as an experiment, and it was then that he would be the assistant that Knock Out would want. It was within his very spark that he would break things, to be the warrior that he was, to see the day that Decepticons would be victorious, and to seek out the future that the whole cause was fighting for.

Maybe they were more alike than Breakdown even cared to admit – in their arrogance, he and Knock Out would use what idealized themselves and in their cause, to the very last drop of Energon left. They knew that they were great in their specialized abilities, be it to fight or disassemble, that was their drive, and they knew that all too well.
