Preface:

I don't know what happened that day, everything just swept by so fast. Everything just kept moving, and my words just kept coming. I didn't know what I was losing, but the one thing I knew was that I was losing the only thing that mattered to me. That thing or person was Holly Short.

Chapter One: Trouble's POV

The LEP and the humans were in the middle of a cross-species war. The humans were winning as the LEP dropped officers way too fast. And I being commander of the Lower Elements Police was the one that could lead to the downfall of the People forever.

I had no time for the relationship I was leading, a wife and a five-year-old son. I was already frustrated, and going home to them just never helped. And on October 13th….the relationship ended.

I walked into our house, threw my starter chip onto the counter and went to the living room to do some paper work. Holly was sitting on the couch watching TV. Our relationship was already slipping, and I didn't want to bother her. So I sat on the other end of the couch.

She looked at me, "Hey." She said softly.

"Hey." I replied, opening my laptop refusing to make eye contact. "Julius is in bed right?" I said referring to my son.

"Yep." She said simply.

"Oh."

"What are you doing?" She asked.

"Paperwork."

"Want help?"

"Nope, its stuff a girl couldn't do." I instantly took back those words after they slipped out of my mouth.

She glared at me, "What did you just say?" She snapped.

I opened my mouth to lie to her, but no. I was done lying. I looked at her straight in the face, and said. "I said its paper work a girl couldn't do." I snickered.

Her face hardened her mouth wide open. "Since when do you think I couldn't do that?!" She almost yelled.

"Since girls can't do nearly as much as us men."

"You men can barley multitask, let alone think!" She growled,

"Actually most of the smartest people in the world are men." I challenged.

"You know what Trouble!?

"What?!" I said now also almost yelling, my fist clenched.

"I'm through with your sexist comments! You're just like commander Root was! And I'm done. Done with the LEP, done with this stupid war, and mostly done with YOU!" She yelled, stomping up the stairs and started packing her stuff.

I sat on the couch as she did that, anger boiling up in me. I couldn't control it anymore. As she walked down the stairs I yelled, "Well guess what?! I never needed you or any of this ever! I don't know why I ever thought that this marriage was a good idea!"

She only glared, and raged out the door suitcase in hand. And I only finally realized what I had done as she pulled away. I pushed my laptop away and ran to the window, "No wait." I whispered, finally realizing the dreadful truth. I had just lost my perfect life, Holly Short….was gone forever.
