"Dan!" Phil called, running past him. Dan laughed, watching him twirl in circles.
"What are you doing?" Dan asked. Phil lunged for a falling leaf, crumpling it between his fingers.
"Having fun. You should try it!" Phil was giddy. They were in the park near their house, admiring the red and gold falling leaves.
"Well aren't you hilarious," Dan said sarcastically, poking Phil in the chest. Phil thrust the leaf into Dan's face. He spluttered, pushing it away from him.
"Did you see how red that one was?" Phil asked with a smile.
"Phil, it was the same color as every other leaf here," Dan said.
"So?" Phil danced away. Dan followed him, kicking up some leaves along the ground. Phil was leaning over the pond, watching the small fish swim.
"I wonder if they get cold," Phil mused.
"They're cold blooded Phil."
"Lighten up," Phil said, nudging his shoulder playfully. Dan watched the fish, not noticing Phil as he scooped up a pile of leaves.
"Augh! Phil!" Dan yelled. Phil was running towards the line of trees at the edge of the park. Dan pulled leaves from the back of his shirt. He chased after Phil, his laughter bubbling up, making it hard to catch his breath. Dan found Phil staring up into the trees, watching the leaves swirling around them.
"What was that for?" Dan asked. Phil didn't respond.
"Phil?" Dan asked curiously. Phil turned to look at him, a shy smile on his face.
"Look," Phil said gesturing at the leaves cascading around them.
"What?" Dan asked.
"Even the leaves are falling for you Dan," Phil said softly. Dan blushed, leaning into him. Phil poked his side and laughed as Dan squirmed away. Phil grabbed Dan around the waist, leaning his weight into him until Dan fell.
"Phil!" They layed next to each other, watching the trees above. Phil rolled onto his side to look at Dan.
"It takes some people a trillion wishes to find someone like you," Phil said quietly.
"How many wishes did it take you?"
"A trillion and one," Phil said with a soft laugh.
