Dear Victoire,
Another September 1st and another time I'm not there to experience it with you. You only left this morning and I miss you so much already.
This letter is all about Harry and today's Auror training.
Sometimes, he really likes to get in on the training himself. I guess it's to be expected since he's Head Auror and all, but when he's training us, it's as if he's a whole other person.
There we second-level cadets were, munching on some biscuits that my friend Jasper Whitlock's sister had brought from a visit to America- or cookies, as they call them.
A fellow cadet- Amara Taylor (Remember her? She was the Slytherin female prefect in my year.) even joked around by Accio-ing a box of milk she'd had in her bag and multiplying it so we'd all have something to drink.
All the joking around ended when my godfather put in an appearance.
I know that becoming an Auror isn't supposed to be fun, but Harry seems to delight in messing with us on occasion.
And when he does...
Today, he decided that we're going to learn some more difficult potions.
What was today's lesson, you might ask? Polyjuice Potion.
I honestly don't know how Hermione brewed that concoction when she was a second year...
He made sure to describe in excruciating detail the painful effects the potion can have when taking it and what can happen if something goes wrong when you're brewing it.
Harry seemed to enjoy our horrified expressions.
Then he went on to tell us about little 'tells' to look for to see if someone was Polyjuiced.
That wasn't the end of it, Victoire.
Oh no.
He actually had two vials of Polyjuice there, for testing. Testing, he says.
To see if we could handle the Polyjuice experience ourselves.
It's days like this that I'm glad that I'm a Metamorphmagus, Victoire. Seriously. I'll never have to take this concoction ever...
Jasper (Gryffindor he is) and Amara decided to volunteer.
Harry took a hair from both of them, dropped them into the vials, handed Jasper's Polyjuice Potion to Amara and Amara's Polyjuice potion to Jasper.
They took it and then the change began...
They looked like something out of a Muggle horror movie as they changed into each other via the potion...
"Kill me now..." Amara moaned. "Just... please..."
"I feel obliged to tell you that murder is against the law, Cadet Taylor." Harry said, seemingly enjoying the rest of our reactions to it.
I swear, he's a sadist on the inside. Don't let his calm exterior fool you, Victoire.
Harry is evil.
The Polyjuiced Amara and Jasper looked at one another in what looked like awe- once they'd dispelled the looks of pain.
"That wasn't so bad, now was it?" Harry asked cheerfully.
Everyone there glared at him.
Everyone.
The best part of today's class was brewing. We'll check in on it over the next month during our Potions sessions. He labelled each brew so he'd know whose was whose and promised us that they'd be safe, but that was the least of our concerns...
Today's Potions class, along with the duelling training has left me exhausted.
I'll write you again when I'm not so tired.
Love,
Teddy.
