Chapter 1

"Hey!" a sharp voice yelled out. The couple that she had yelled at turned to look at her. The male, a tall, muscular boy, being taller than the girl looked at her. The female, also tall but with a snotty look in her eyes. She, looked down her nose at the shorter girl that had yelled. "Don't yell at me, you little midget."

Enraged, the "midget" glared up at her. Akari Shidou was furious. How dare that girl call her that name! She wasn't short, the other girl was just taller than average! She said to the girl, "Watch what you say. You never know when someone who has less patience with people like you than I do, might come along and plant a punch on your face." Saying that, Akari smirked and walked away.

The girl was left staring at her back. When Akari was out of earshot, she muttered to her boyfriend, "Just you wait midget, I'll get you back."

The boy smiled nervously at her. "Um, Akane, I've got to run. I've got an appointment in thirty minutes at the Tokyo tower. See ya!" With that the boy turned around and jogged the way the strange girl was heading. Once out of his fiancee's eyesight, Ranke Saotome slowed into a walk. Dang, that strange girl sure got guts. People usually just stammer an apology to Akane and turn tail and run! With that thought, he walked on, silently brooding. Just outside the Tokyo tower doors, Ranke stopped and thought, Dang it! Why did mom have to engage me to Akane?!? What's even worse is that she doesn't even know that she's a snot. Don't forget a pain in the butt! Giving one last sigh, Ranke walked into the Tokyo tower.

Going to the restaurant located at the top of the tower, he was greeted by his friends. "Yo! Ran! Over here!"

Hiro being the one who had yelled out got a dirty look from the lady at the counter. Ranke, called Ran by everybody, slipped into his seat next to Hiro, smirking, he looked at him, "Shouldn't yell in a restaurant like this one, it'll earn you dirty looks from the staff…that is except for the teenage girls."

Hiro shoved him, "You get those looks without even having to say a word."

Ran smiled smugly and replied, "That's because they have good taste."

That comment earned him a slap on the head. Kusanagi spoke up, "Since you're finally here, why don't we get down to business?"

Half an hour later, Ran walked out of the restaurant and headed to the observatory, It was his favorite place in the entire city, it got him away from all of the noise. Going there so often, the guard at the entrance just waved him in. He walked in and immediately walked to the ledge to look out into the wide expanse of sky. Suddenly, he got shoved into the railing. He turned to see who had shoved him, a familiar voice reached his ears. "Umi! Why'd you do that for? You made me fall onto something!"

The owner of the voice turned to look at him, violet eyes met blue eyes, together they yelled, "YOU!"

All of a sudden, the tower started to shake. The person whom the girl had addressed as Umi, looked around wide eyed, turning to face them again, her eyes widened further, Akari and the strange boy were starting to fade, probably to Cephiro. Not knowing what to do, she lunged forward shouting, "Akari! I think you're going to Cephiro!"

Akari's eyes widened, "But this isn't planned! How can I be going to Cephiro? And without you, Fuu, or mom?"

Umi shouted back a reply as fast as she could, Akari was fading fast, "I don't know! They probably need help or something! You know Cephiro! Use your instincts! You're a lot more prepared than we were!"

Akari got one more desperate word out before she disappeared completely, "UMI!"
