"Coward, don't walk away without a fight!" the Joker yelled at Nightwing as the masked hero walked away.
"You're just not worth the effort," Nightwing responded. First day back home and already having to deal with the Joker, he groans inwardly.
"Oh come on, Dickie Bird," the Joker taunted. "You're no fun."
Dick froze. "What did you call me?"
"Dickie Bird," the Joker replied laughing.
It had been forever since he'd been called that. Only his siblings and would call him that. He had left them behind; there were other towns in the need of justice, mainly Blüdhaven. Somehow, Dick always found himself returning to Gotham, but this time he was greeted by an old enemy.
"Stop wasting my time, clown!" Dick said getting angry, and he walked away. Dick wasn't really thinking of where he was walking until he had found himself at the steps of Wayne Manor. In the driveway a familiar motorcycle was parked there.
What am I doing here? Dick thought to himself.
"Where are you going, Todd?" Damian's voice projected through the manor. Seconds later Jason stormed through the front door.
"Dickie?!" Jason said surprised. A smile crept across his face. "If you're here to see the family, be my guest. They sure will be happy to see their perfect golden child again."
Dick ignored Jason's comment and walked though the door.
"Master Richard, I see you have decided to return home?" Alfred said. "Master Bruce will be most pleased to see you."
"It's nice to see you too, Alfred," Dick said, eager to see his father and brothers once again.
"Dickie Bird!" Tim's voice rang through the hallway as he tackle-hugged Dick.
"Hey Timmy," Dick said, returning the hug.
"Grayson?!" Damian shouted as he went to hug Dick, although it is more of a chokehold.
"Urk! Can't breathe," Dick managed to choke out. Damian loosened his grip. "It's nice to see you guys again."
"Dick?" The voice of his old mentor called out to him. "It's about time you returned" Bruce said, hugging his son. "It's been far too long."
"Hi, Dad," Dick said, hugging his father. He was finally home.
