The Beginning of Love
I have often wondered where Love comes from,
That elusive, mysterious emotion,
It evades when you seek it
And finds you when you least imagine.
It is the foundation of our world, Love,
And yet, do we know the place of its origin?
Do we see it start in a tender kiss,
Or in the touch of an infant's finger?
Or does it start in a first fond glance,
Or a flower given by a toddling child?
Does it begin with a boy and his dog,
Or a girl and her first horseback ride?
Does it begin in a baby's first laugh,
Or the tears as he grows its first tooth?
Might it start with a shy, blushing smile,
Or a mother's pain as her child is born?
All these might be loving and caring, in truth,
But the root of it, though simple, is far deeper.
It begins in the words, "In the beginning,"
And completes in the words, "It is finished."
The Creator's mercy on his own Creation,
By giving the greatest gift that there is,
To sacrifice your life to save that of another.
May the whole world know that the Beginning of Love,
Is contained in moment for all to see,
"That whoever believeth in him shall not perish,"
That is the Beginning of Love.
R&R, please?
