TWO SIDES OF THE SAME WORLD

AN: Okay so this story's Twilight background is that the Cullens live in Perdido Beach, California during the time of the FAZE and are all humans with canon pairings minus Bella of course. Alice is 16, Jasper is 17, Emmett is 18 & so is Rosalie, Carlisle and Esme are 23 and 24 respectively, and Edward is 17 like usual. The story's Gone background takes place in Lies after the Perdido Beach fire set by Zil and the Human Crew. The prologue is pre- FAZE and right after the wall goes up and the 15 year olds and up disappear. For my readers who haven't read any of the Gone books, this won't make a whole lot of sense, but I hope you like it anyway. Natalie Summers is my character. For those of you who have read Fallen For You: A Fallen Angel's Story that's who she is, but she doesn't have angel wings.
Prologue: The Day Everything Changed
It was a normal enough day in Perdido Beach, California. Edward and I were in our Advanced English class at the high school with our friends. The main difference was my own age; Edward and my friends were all 16 or 17 and I was only 14 years old. So I was the smart little girl, and, yeah, I got teased for it but I didn't care as long as I was with Edward. Our first date was one of my favorite memories.
He had taken me to the beach on a picnic. We were laughing together about our friends and our lives. He told me of his dreams about Harvard College, and I, in turn, confessed that I only wanted to go to Harvard to see Robert Langdon. He'd smiled his perfect smile at that; I knew that he was a Dan Brown fanatic too. Then he'd leaned in closer with a seriousness in the depths of his green eyes.
Green eyes just like mine.
His kiss was light and brief, but it set me on fire. And it was then that I knew who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. The next day the gossip had flown like attacking pigeons, but I didn't care. When you're in love, nothing matters, nothing but the one you've fallen in love with.
Now I'd just told a joke that was making everyone laugh. All my teachers adore me, so they didn't mind most of my disruptions during class. Edward was watching me, laughter in my favorite, deep green, eyes, and he was leaning towards me for a short, sweet kiss. But then the laughter suddenly stopped and my eyes opened in surprise.
They were all gone.
I stumbled into the hall in shock, what was going on? There were hundreds of children milling around in confusion. Astrid the Genius stepped into the linoleum hallway with a strange look on her face. I could see Sam watching me from across the hall.
"Hey Summers! What's going on?" He yelled to me.
"No idea!" I called back.
"HEY! HEY EVERYBODY! SHUT UP!" Astrid screamed.
Then it got quiet really fast. Astrid wasn't a huge talker, but when she did people tended to listen.
"What should we do?" Whined a couple of people.
"Just go home and chill." Sam said reassuringly.
So people grumbled a bit and headed out, hoping that tomorrow everything would go back to normal.
Yeah, like that happened.
