A/N: In my previous fic, I forgot to mention a disclaimer. Of course I'm not Rsquared. But here's a disclaimer for the sticklers just in case:
DISCLAIMER: Pineapple Water does not own PJO.
Warning: Very short one-shot, kind of angsty...
Anyways, on with the story…
Kiss it Goodbye
When Rachel finished the oath to become the Oracle of Delphi, she didn't really have much of an idea of what was to come with having that creepy prophecy uttering hag inside her for the rest of eternity.
The phrase 'I knew that would happen!' had a whole new meaning, not including all the (mostly) disturbing images she had flooding through her head. Just by looking at someone, she could see little visions of the future. The most disturbing, probably, was when she looked over at Percy and Annabeth a couple days after they had gotten together, and saw something in the near future Rachel probably could've lived without seeing.
Plus, just because the war was over didn't mean Chiron wouldn't send newbies on little quests, and she felt horribly dizzy and lightheaded whenever she issued out a prophecy (who knew there'd be so many?) to someone.
It was her destiny, of course, but that doesn't mean she has to like her destiny. Who said she wanted to be the one to step up to the plate and replace the old Oracle? People have to work, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they like their job, and this is kind of like a job for her. Did she mention all the things she has to give up? Boyfriend, sex life, normal life, etc…
When she kissed Percy on the cheek after the whole Oracle ordeal, she had kissed a whole mortal life out of her grasp, and into the sky that Apollo runs through everyday with his big ol' Masserati.
She had kissed it goodbye.
