Hai, guise! I'm back! I needed to take a little break for school reasons, but now that I have some time on my hands, I decided to do a little one-shot! Enjoy reading!
Maya stared up into the night sky. The stars were bright, and what more, it seemed like they were sparkling just for her.
"Wow, the stars are so pretty tonight. A clear winter sky really changes things." Maya murmured as she stared in awe at the heavens twinkling above her. She wrapped her robe around her tighter. It was 2 AM, and these midnight temperatures do get a little cold sometimes.
Maya was sitting comfortably in the backyard of the Fey Manor, which happened to be on a very high hill. From a hill like theirs, any sky-viewing was usually best there.
Suddenly, she blinked and found that she was looking at something dark blue. It seemed to have landed on her head, actually. Maya took it off and found that it was one of Phoenix's blue suit jackets. She looked behind her to see who threw it to her face. She saw that Phoenix was approaching behind her with his own robe on, carrying two cups that had something steaming in it, and he sat down next to her.
He smiled and handed one cup to Maya. She sniffed the contents of the cup.
"Warm milk. I know you love this stuff." Phoenix took a sip of the milk. "And it's freezing. Wear that jacket, will ya?"
Maya put his jacket on. She also took a sip of the milk, and she instantly felt a warm chill go down her throat and spread all over her body. She smiled and scooted over closer to Phoenix.
He continued. "It's late, and it's cold. What's up?" He wrapped his arm around her to completely scoot her over next to him.
Maya gulped down the last of the milk and set the cup down near her. She rested her head on Phoenix's shoulder and sighed. "I don't know... I just felt like going out, you know?" She smiled and cuddled even closer to Phoenix. She mumbled in his robe, "You're really warm, Nick."
He smiled and gave her a tight hug. "Hey, I'm only warm because you're so warm." He lifted her head and gave her long kiss on the lips. Just as he did, something zoomed past their heads. They quickly whipped their heads around to see what it was.
Phoenix and Maya didn't see anything, but they suspected that the even more sparkly sky had something to do with it. Another thing zoomed by, white and speedy. Soon, more and more came, and they realized that it was a meteor shower.
Maya popped up and out of the comfortable cuddling position and jumped excitedly. "Nick, shooting stars! I've never seen them before! Have you seen my camera anywhere?" About to head inside, she quickly ran to grab her camera, but Phoenix's arm stopped her.
Maya looked up questioningly.
He responded quietly, "It's a meteor shower, Maya. These things don't last for too long, so every second you miss getting your camera, every second is a second closer to its end. Just sit here and watch it. I'm sure your memory will suffice with pictures."
Maya blinked, and obediently sat down. Phoenix had never been so assertive before. In his own way, this was being assertive and "in-charge" (for once). They resumed their warm cuddle and watched the meteors fly by. They wondered where these things possibly landed.
Maya's eyes sparkled just as bright with curiosity and wonder as the shooting stars flashing in the sky. Phoenix observed her with awe and appreciation at how beautiful someone could really be.
"Make a wish, Maya."
"Make your wish first, Nick."
"I wished that we would be together forever. What did you wish for, Nick?
Huh. I wished the same thing.
...Hee hee."
