AN: Based on a RP character of mine. Oneshot only, unless I feel like making it into a story.

Disclaimer: I own Ahio and Irrel (character-wise). All else is of the pokemon world.

The Eevee looked at her new trainer with discomfort. He was the silent, dark type and seemed to stare endlessly into that small pitiful looking campfire.

"Pitiful. Much like yourself." Her trainer had said as he built it. The words stung. The little tiny flame spread through the dry wood and yet, it was the only thing driving away the pitch-black darkness. Out of all the new trainers that had come, why was she stuck with this one? She'd never thought that she would actually start missing the pokelab. The Eevee let out a small whimper. The sound caused the silent boy to look up. His faced showed amusement.

"Pitiful little thing," he spat out, then smiled a horrible smile. It made the Eevee shiver. When she had first set eyes on him, she couldn't even picture him smiling, and yet, there he was, cold, dark-hearted, beautiful… smiling. "Do not worry," He continued, shifting his gaze back to the fire. "I will make you strong. I will devote all my time to you. There is not a pokemon I will catch until I'm satisfied with you." And with sudden movement in his seemingly lifeless body, he flung the rest of the firewood into the flames. The fire blazed brilliantly and the Eevee shrank back.

Nodding with satisfaction, he turned to face the Eevee. "I will call you Irrel. Your name stands for irrelevant. And that is what you are." He reached out and patted his Pokemon on the head, stroking it with a gentle caress. It was a surprising gesture, Irrel thought, pleasing too. Shyly, she licked his hand and scooted closer, looking up at the trainer. Waiting for his reaction….

The boy's faced twisted. Angrily, he tweaked Irrel's white tipped ears hard. The Eevee yelped and drew back. Fearful of his wrath, she just sat there, unmoving. Minutes passed, then an hour. Finally, her trainer rubbed his eyes and stifled a yawn. Reaching in his pocket, he took a pokeball and held it up in front of the Eevee.

Irrel had never been this happy to see that pokeball. She longed to go inside, away from that dark boy. A red beam shot out from the ball and she felt that funny tingling sensation as she felt her body being sucked in. But before that, she happened to catch a glimpse at her master. Was he… smiling? It was different one this time. One that was kind, but sad… He was saying something. His voice was soft… she fought the pokeball, wanting not to go in.. not just yet… Dimly, she heard faint words…

"My name's Ahio Tynan. I look forward to our adventures together, Irrel. Please, I'm counting on you."

The Eevee gave out a soft sigh… yes, now she would go. The red beam enveloped her and she disappeared.

Ahio smiled grimly and layed down, snuggling in his sleeping bag. He stared up at the sky. His lips trembled. Not being able to hold it in, he burst out laughing. The bitter sound rang out and he drowned it down into a light, mirthlesschuckle.

"The bait was set and taken. She will be forever loyal to me. I've snared her completely."

End.
