For the briefest minuscule second when he stared into the eyes of his former younger self, the Doctor felt the temptation to say more about the past than he should. In the midst of rambling off of the names of people he hadn't seen since around the time he was the Doctor standing in front of him, the present form of the Doctor resisted the urge to telepathically share with himself the outcome of the Time War.
No telling himself what was still to come for this Doctor was out of the question since it would most certainly change the outcome of those events, and destroy the time line. The temptation was never greater than when he mentioned the Master's name, telling his former self of the most recent encounter with the deranged and now dead Time Lord. If it wasn't for the fact he was still smarting from that loss, the Doctor doubted he would have even felt any temptation to say what he shouldn't.
Oh well in any case, the idea totally fled his mind when his former self started to shift back to his own time. Instead of giving himself words of warning he spoke words of love and nostalgia for a time long gone, one which would never come again.
