The day was coming to an end as a pink-haired kunoichi walked towards her home. She sighed. Ino had invited her to a dance, not caring if Sakura was dateless. The age of twenty... yet she never had learned to dance. But of course she wanted to go, she never turned an exciting offer down. Sakura didn't want to look like a moron sitting off to the side, so she needed to learn how to dance... and fast. As she continued on her way thinking that maybe Hinata could show her how, a certain tree caught her eye. A mischevious grin took over her face as she soaked in the familiar lazy eyes, silvery hair and orange book. Quietly, so as not to disturb the Jonin, she made her way to him and the branch he was sitting on. Sakura propped herself against the tree and leaned her head back, closing her eyes.

"...Kakashi-sensei?" She asked quietly.

"Sakura." He never took his eyes off the pages.

"Um... I was wondering... could you...." She turned away shyly, right into his chest.

"Could I what?"

Kakashi had suddenly appeared in front of her. His eyes crinkled, showing that he was smiling.

"Do you know how to dance?"

"Of course."

"Could... you teach me?"

They were silent a moment. Then Kakashi held out his hand towards her. A light blush covered her cheeks as she grasped his hand. He led her towards an open grassy patch.

"Place your hand," He grabbed her wrist and lifted it, "On my shoulder. Mine goes on your waist."

There was a pause as they looked into each other's eyes. Kakashi broke the tension as he began the lesson.

"Back, and forward. Again."

Sakura kept her eyes on her feet until Kakashi's gloved hand reached down to her chin to bring her face to meet his. He taught her basic steps and twirled her a few times, smiling and laughing with her for at least an hour. By the time Sakura had gotten the hang of it, Kakashi's mask pooled under his chin. They sat together under the tree, resting.

"Sakura. Why do you need to dance?"

"Ino invited me to a dance. I... I had never learned. So I thought," She looked at him, "That I would ask you."

Kakashi's eyes closed in a smile. That same blush returned to her cheeks.

That next night, which happened to be the night before the dance, Ino and Sakura were out looking for a spot to eat. Ino was jabbering about something or other, but Sakura's mind was elsewhere, for across the way stood Kakashi, talking lazily with Asuma. He wore no mask or headband tonight. Sakura looked back to her blonde companion, to see her waving over Shikamaru and Naruto. She decided to excuse herself for the bathroom, but made a beeline for her former sensei. Asuma left with Kurenai just as Sakura reached them.

"Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura smiled.

Kakashi smiled back, nodding.

"Um... Kakashi... can you... um... would you dance with me one more time? To make sure I have it right?"

Kakashi began to walk, motioning with his finger for her to follow. She happily obliged. When they reached a fine open spot, he reached his hand out again and lightly grabbed hers. As they danced under the moon, they spoke.

"Kakashi... what are you doing tomorrow night?"

"Mm, nothing. Why?"

Her face became dark red, "Because I was wondering if you would-"

"Be your date to that dance?"

Her face shot up to look at him, "What? How'd you know?"

"Haha, Sakura... you aren't the only one who knows about it. ...But of course."

"You will? ...Thank you."

He twirled her and caught her round the waist, pulling her towards him. Turning her around, he pressed his lips against hers. Sakura was shocked at first, but quickly placed her hand on his cheek, so as to deepen the kiss. She pulled away, a small smile on her face.

"I-"

"Once more. To make sure we've got it right." Kakashi whispered, capturing her lips in a kiss again.
