"The runes have been placed, and she knows what she has to do. The prophecy will be fulfilled Master."
"Good. Soon the mortal world will be no more…"
I stand on a circular roof that overlooks the city. My cape is gone, most likely somewhere on the streets below. My hair has grown some six inches longer than it should be. My leotard is torn, and cold metal fingers grip my arms and hold them to my sides like vices. The half-black, half-copper face the fingers belong to is very close to my own—uncomfortably close. His very touch seems to burn my skin. The runes on all of my exposed skin seem to glow brighter. He keeps telling me things that I already know, but rather would have forgotten. My Destiny. I try to ignore him, but then something bursts inside of me, like before, in the clock tower, when I stopped time.
The sky is red all of sudden. No. Crimson. The color of blood. Scattered dark clouds hang. Crumbled buildings are all that is left of the city. Nothing moves. Actually, scratch that. Things do move. But they aren't comforting: raven-like birds, with four, blood-red eyes. Everything else is frozen in stone. My friends are visible. Cyborg and Beast Boy, distorted and surrounded by similarly distorted figures from a famous painting. Starfire in a similar situation. Robin, with crazed, desperate statues looking as if they want to take him into hell with them. Every one of them, frozen in stone.
I am sure, though I don't know why, that it is all my fault.
Especially when I see the black figure in the distance.
One I'd really rather forget all about.
Its head, with its own four blood-red, demon eyes, turns slowly to stare directly at me. The fear that is associated with this figure hits me like it never has before.
Then it's over. Slade lets me go, right off the tower. I fall, unable to do anything, only semi-conscious.
Well, at least I won't have anything to do with this vision if I fall to my death right now. But, as I should well know by now, fate likes leading me on.
I hear the ka-ching-whiiiiirrrrrCLANK of a grappling hook, and am caught out of the air, as a falcon would snatch a blue-jay. Odd for a teenager that calls himself a Robin.
My would-be savior.
The world's inadvertent killer.
What ever gods are doing this to me and the people in my life should stop this cruel and unusual form of punishment. It sucks. A lot.
Well. Close to what I wanted. This is the first Teen Titans fic I've attempted. If you guys have any information on the series (plot summaries would be AWESOME!), please, send them to me. I've skipped out on most of the series, but when I saw last week's previews, I was, like, FIC!FIC!FIC!IDEA! But I'd really been missing out, cuz I didn't even know that Slade had died! Que loco. So. Yeah. This should be an ongoing fic, I just need some plot summaries for seasons, oh, let's say 2-3. Thanks a bunch. RR!
