A/N Hi! ForeverMe65 here! So this is my first fanfiction... well second, my first to publish, so please don't be too harsh. I started working on this a little over a month ago and I have wanted to post it so now I am. Please don't hate, but I am open to critique. Anywhosies, here we go!

Her heart raced, her knees ached, her breath shortened, but she kept running.
Why is this happening to me? she thought.
"JOIN US!" The booming, monotone voice filled the air.
"Never!" she yelled. The retort was almost instinctive. She had been shouting it for the past year and a half.
Bang!
She screamed in agony as a bullet entered her lower back, narrowly missing her spine. She had tried to stop it, only succeeding in slowing the bullet, leaving it lodged in her.
"If you join us, you will feel no more pain," the voiced boomed again.
"I'm sure," she sarcastically spat at him, as she used her powers to throw a dumpster at her attacker.
I don't know how much more of this I can take... she thought, drowsily. That's when she saw it. A tall black fence. If I can get over that fence I can buy myself some time, maybe even find a place to hide. The fence was about 40 yards away.
"Your attempts to run are in vain. We will have you. And you will be my slave."
"Ne-"
Bang! Bang!
She was cut off by two sharp bursts of pain. She screamed as one, two bullets entered her back to join the first.
I don't know how much further I can go. She almost slowed down. NO! she snapped herself out of it, you can do it. That fence isn't that far...
20 yards... Just a little further
17 yards... you can... her knees ached.
14 yards... do it... her heart thumped.
10 yards... almost... her breath was short.
6 yards... there... her back became wet with blood.
4 yards... I ca- she tripped, landing only 3 feet from the fence.
Breathing heavily, she tried to stand up, to keep running, but she couldn't. Her legs were jello, her mind was scrambled, and her back was bloody. So... close... God, help me...
With that her vision went black and she fainted.
