Just felt like writing this for some reason. Probably because Rufus is one of my favourite characters in FFVII, anyway the prologue is short but chapters after this will be much longer, I hope you enjoy it. =)

Shinras Demise
Prologue
Everything had changed in the blink of an eye, the world had become a time bomb counting down to its demise, the population were without hope, Shinra had failed in all of there attempts to stop the impending meteor, they now only had one chance to regain the peoples trust and that was to destroy the weapon threatening the city of Midgar.
Rufus Shira stood in his office watching over the city wondering if it would soon no longer be here, he did not believe a weapon could be defeated so easily, even the mako cannon would struggle to down it, a small smirk can be seen on Rufus's face as he realises Cloud and the others are probably out there trying to stop it "the fools."
A soldier runs in (rather out of breath from the distance he has just run.) and salutes Rufus "sir the cannon is ready to fire."
"Right then fire" with the order to fire the soldier ran back out the room.
Rufus prepared for the worse as he heard the cannon building up the mako energy, even if they did succeed in stopping weapon Midgar wouldn't be out of danger long, there was still no way they could stop meteor, the fate of the world was already written., the cannon made a ear shattering noise as it fired towards weapon, it cut across the sky of Midgar and faded into the distance, Rufus could not see if it had hit weapon or not, he just kept on looking hoping to see something or to be informed of its destruction , Rufus's prediction were correct after all a good portion of Midgar and the Shinra building are about to be destroyed, what looked to be some sort of comet attacks from weapon were hurtling towards the city, Rufus just stood there without any sign of fear on his calm and collected face, a comet strike the very front of the Shinra building leaving all inside and nearby at the mercy of death.
Most of Midgar was engulfed in flames, people had to evacuate there homes and even the street, the whole city was in mayhem nowhere was safe, Shinra could do nothing to help, the rest of the world would soon follow in Midgars footsteps and become a raging inferno.
Rufus Shinra was presumed dead by his company and the loyal turks, that is were the downfall of Shinra began.
In the next chapter: The Kalm Before The Storm
While the world has only a few days left before meteor hits Kalm has a unexpected visitor.
