Rayman became nervous as Sonic came by. Why? Well, Rayman likes him, of course! No, not "like" as a friend. "Like", meaning, "I have a crush on this person".
The two have found each other when Rayman was in a rather not-so-good situation. The situation was the limbless thingamajig running into a trap.
Rayman was once walking, minding his own business, when suddenly, he slipped his foot into a loop of a rope.
"W-whoa!!" Rayman yelled as the rope pulled him by the foot off of the ground. Rayman just remained there, hanging upside down. "...H-help? Somebody?" He looked around his surroundings. Nobody was around, at least from his perspective.
Rayman wondered why somebody would just set a trap in such a random spot. In the middle of the woods. Who would even do that? Why would somebody do that? In the middle of the woods?
I thought people stopped doing that prank.
As Rayman was thinking this, somebody walked by, appearing to not notice that he was dangling below a tree branch.
"Uhh, can you help me-WHOA!!!" Rayman asked the other man before his foot slipped off of the loop and he fell onto the smaller man. This caused the two to both fall to the ground.
"Ow..."
The other figure shoved Rayman off of him, got up, and dusted himself off. "What the heck, dude!"
Rayman got up, and looked at this person. He was a blue hedgehog who had deep green eyes.
"Oh, I'm s-sorry." Rayman stammered. "M-my foot got caught in a rope, and the rope p-pulled me off the ground, a-and-"
"Whatever, what's-your-name," The blue hedgehog muttered.
"M-my name's Rayman," Rayman said.
"I didn't ask you, but okay. My name's Sonic, by the way." Then Sonic started muttering stuff under his breath that sounded like straight gibberish to Rayman.
A couple weeks later, Rayman and Sonic found each other again, but this time, Sonic was in a bad situation. He was stuck up a tree.
"HELP?" Sonic said. "Anyone here? Nobody? Okay."
How do I get down?
Rayman was sitting under the tree, and he noticed Sonic up in a tree.
"Sonic?" Rayman asked. "Is that you up there?"
Sonic peered over the tree, finding Rayman multiple feet below him.
"Uhh, yeah," Sonic said. "How can I get down from here?"
"I dunno, climb back down?"
"But what if I fall?"
"Don't worry, you won't."
"But I don't wanna climb down the tree. I honestly think I stuck up this tree?"
Rayman sighed, and spread out his hands. "Don't worry, I'll catch you!"
"Rayman," Sonic complained. "I am not gonna risk my life just to get down a tree. Besides, how would you catch me? You don't have arms."
"Sonic, you can either jump off that branch, and I catch you, or you can climb down the tree. There is no other option."
"I can stay up here."
"Sonic, no. You aren't staying up there."
"Fine," Sonic said with a sigh. He stood up slowly, trying not to fall. "Hey, are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Well, it's better than just camping on that branch your whole life." Rayman responded.
"Well, if I break my neck, it's on you."
Sonic hopped off of the tree, screaming and closing his eyes. But he didn't hit the ground. Sonic opened his eyes, shocked. Rayman was holding Sonic as if he was his bride.
"See?" Rayman said. "I told ya I'd catch you."
After a few more weeks of helping each other out, the two became friends. And as their friendship became stronger, Rayman developed feelings for his friend.
His feelings gained strength in the same pace as the increasing strength of the friendship.
