He had never felt so helpless. Trapped. Separated by nothing more than a sheet of glass. Frozen. Somehow his brain had stopped working the moment he had realized.
It hurt. Not a horrible pain, but a sharp one. Just below her jaw. She was shaking. She could feel it from her head to her toes. Fear. Freezing her veins. Blurring her vision. She could see him. Fear in his eyes. Matching her own. She was pleading. Silently begging for him to help her.
"Please open the door."
His voice was shaking. He was scared. Terrified that her blood would pour. Afraid that it was too late. It couldn't be too late.
She shook violently. Fighting back tears. His voice driving into her heart. She was scared, so scared. It wasn't too late. She would never give up. She was always his. She was there waiting. Praying for him to save her.
I love you! I love you! Her mind screamed it. She couldn't say it. She was too afraid. Her mouth opened. Her tears fell. The pain grew. Dizzy. She was so dizzy. Darkness was taking over.
Pounding erupted. She couldn't stand up. She was falling. Hitting the ground. Screaming. Someone calling for her.
"Sara! Sara, honey, wake up!"
She was cold. His hands burned her. Shaking.
"Grissom."
No more than a whisper.
It wasn't too late.
"I love you."
