"Stupid German goddess. What does she have that I don't have? I'm just as good as she is. No. I'm better than she is. I've been here for years. I've helped her through her break up with Jesse. I helped her with her realization that she liked girls. I've been there for her for the past four years. Now, Ms. Germany walks in and gets the girl. What kind of bullshit is that? UGH!"
The sound of the clock shattering against the wall startled Chloe. She hadn't realized that she'd picked it up. Ever since World's her mind had been in a tailspin. Watching Beca leave the after party with The Kommissar had hurt in more ways than the redhead had anticipated. A week later and the hurt hadn't lessened.
For three years Chloe knew one truth, the girl she had a crush on was out of her reach. While Chloe may enjoy convincing a straight girl to join her in bed, it wasn't conductive to a long-term relationship. This truth allowed Chloe to remain Beca's friend for three years without pushing the boundaries too far. That all changed when the Bella's saw DSM for the first time.
When Beca couldn't control herself around DSM at the car show, Chloe felt the beginnings of hope start to form. If Beca was questioning her sexuality, then Chloe was going to be right there, ready to swoop in and get the girl. Unfortunately all Beca could talk or think about was the blonde bombshell from Germany.
None of the subtle and not so subtle hints that Chloe dropped were picked up on and it left the redhead frustrated. There was even a point in time when Chloe considered dyeing her hair blonde. She would have given anything for Beca to notice her. Unfortunately, Beca only had eyes for the Kommissar. Even now, they were discussing dating each other in L.A.
Chloe was reconsidering rooming with Beca out on the west coast. She wasn't sure if her heart or her head could handle front row seats to their relationship. The heart broken girl could only hope that she didn't end up losing one of her closest friends over her massive crush. Oh what she wouldn't give to be a tall, blonde, German goddess who smelled like cinnamon. Life would be so much better for the redhead if that were true.
"Chloe, is everything okay?" Beca asked. The smaller girl looked around the room at the half-filled boxes and the pieces of the clock littered on the floor.
Chloe turned away from the source of her pain and just shrugged, "Yeah, everything's okay. I've just always hated that clock. I'm starting a new chapter in my life, and there's going to be change. The clock's just the start of it."
