The Grocery List
"Honey, I forgot my phone in my locker at the lab, I'm going to go run and get it, I'll be right back." Nick told Jackie one afternoon.
"Oh, ok, I have a few things to grab at the store, would you mind stopping on your way home?"
"Sure." He replied with a smile.
"Ok thanks, hold on, I'll grab the list." She told him.
She grabbed the list and handed it to him.
He read the list out loud: saltine crackers, ice cream, pickles, and prenatal vitamins.
He re read the list to himself and then blinked a couple of times.
He eyes got wide.
He looked at Jackie, she had a huge smile on her face.
He broke out in a huge smile himself, he dropped the list on the floor, and went over to her and picked her up and gently spun her around.
"I love you so much." He told her.
"I love you too." She replied.
They were both beyond overjoyed!
"What a creative way of sharing your news." He whispered in her ear.
"I'm glad you liked it." She replied.
"I have an idea, why don't we all go out to lunch to celebrate, I'll make a quick trip at the lab to get my phone and then we can go to lunch as a family."
"That's a great idea, and then maybe we can stop at the store and get the items on my list." She said with a smile.
"Oh you really did want those?" He asked with a laugh, thinking that she hadn't really wanted them but instead she just using the list as a way of telling Nick she was pregnant.
"I want the crackers for sure and I need the prenatal vitamins."
"Ok, have you not been feeling well?" he asked.
"I've felt a little queasy the last couple of days but I haven't felt too bad. Oh and I have a doctors appointment on Thursday after work, just to get it confirmed, but I took three home pregnancy tests, and I've been really tired lately, and like I said I've felt nauseous, I'm about 99.5% sure I'm pregnant." She said with a grin.
"Awesome! I am so excited!" He said with utter happiness in his voice.
"Me too." She replied.
He went over to her once again and gave her another kiss.
"Let's go get the kids ready and then we'll head to lunch." She told him.
"Ok." He said before he went up the stairs to start helping getting the kids ready.
The family had a nice lunch, but more importantly then the lunch itself was the reason for the celebration!
