(A/N: Yes, Boq is doing NaNoWriMo. So far, my NaNoWriMo is a lot less stressful than Boq's. Hopefully it'll stay that way, although I've heard the second week is the most stressful. Enjoy!)

NaNoWriMo

"Boq?" Nessa was outside Boq's door, hoping he would come out for once.

"Oz," Boq's voice came from inside his room. "Can no one read? There's a sign out there that says 'Writer at Work: Do Not Disturb.'"

"Actually, Fiyero crossed out the 'do not,'" Nessa said. "Boq, please come out here, I'm worried about you. You've locked yourself in there since November first, you haven't attended any of your classes, you won't return any of my calls. What is so important that you need to stay in there twenty four/seven?"

"NaNoWriMo."

"NaNo what?"

"NaNoWriMo. National Novel Writing Month. I have to write fifty thousand words by November thirtieth."

"Fifty thousand?" Nessa shook her head even though of course Boq couldn't see it. "Boq, you're crazy. I'm coming in."

"You can't. I'm in the middle of a really intense scene."

"I don't care." Nessa used the key Boq had given her a while ago to unlock the door, and she was shocked as she wheeled around the room. Empty cups that once held coffee were strewn about, and instant noodle and soup containers were piled just as high as that one time Galinda decided to stack all of her shoes on top of each other.

And worst of all was Boq. He was leaning way too close to the computer screen. His eyes were red and appeared to not have blinked since November first. His clothes and hair were a mess, and he smelled like he hadn't taken a shower in days.

"Boq, what's happened to you?" Nessa asked.

"Nothing. I'm fine."

"Boq, you are not fine. Look at you."

"Can't. Writing."

Nessa tried to lean closer to his computer to see what he was writing. That got Boq's attention.

"Hey!" he barked, breaking away from the computer to give Nessa a red-eyed glare. "No reading until I'm done!"

"Fine," Nessa agreed. "Just promise me you'll take a shower and clean up this place."

"I'll do it tomorrow," Boq said with no intention of doing either of those things.

When it was obvious that Boq wasn't capable of having an intelligent conversation right now, Nessa left him to work on his word goal.

~~~***~~~***~~~
Six months after NaNoWriMo, Boq ran up to Nessa excitedly. "It's published!" he screamed. "It's published! And they didn't even make me change anything! Here," he handed the book to Nessa. "I wanted you to have the first copy."
Nessa looked at the cover of the book. Black background, pale hands holding a bright red apple. And the silver title: Twilight.
She turned it over to read the summary. It was about vampires? Nessa had a feeling she wasn't going to like this book, even if Boq had written it.
She forced on her most encouraging smile. "I'm sure it'll be great, Boq."
(A/N: Reviews are love!)
