"Reneesme, I kind of need to talk to you", Edward looks down at me with a pained expression on his face.

This is weird, considering that I've never seen him so unsure of something. As the oldest vampire here besides Carlisle, he thinks that he knows everything. I suppose being 108 years old really does help too, and of course the mind reading. I can only say this because he's my father.

"What about?" I reply with a cocked eyebrow.

"Guys, dating, the usual thing a father would talk to his daughter about."

"You know, we're far from normal. But, what did you want to say?"

"Things seem to be getting quite serious with Jacob. I just want to be sure that you're being responsible and …safe." He cringes slightly at the last word.

I automatically know what he's thinking, and then wince. Then I try to stifle a laugh, instead of answering, and then fail to disguise it as coughing.

Then he continues with, "Just before your mother and I go out to Oregon to hunt. Emmett seems to have found some… things in Jacob's drawer."

I recover from the laughing story, and then say," No need to worry there, Dad. I say. He always caves when I say Dad instead of Edward. "I honestly don't even like Jacob like that. He has a totally different interpretation of our relationship than I do."

"Relationship?", now he looks slightly panicked.

"As friends, I mean." He doesn't reply, and I know that he's shuffling through my thoughts to see if I'm lying.

"Okay, Ness. You're sure you'll be alright here?"

"Edward, I'm 16. I can fend for myself. I'm not alone either, I have Rosalie and Emmett."

I'm not sure he always fully trusts Alice. Must be afraid she'll take me on some wild shopping spree.

Edward knows what I'm thinking, and chuckles, "Yeah, that's exactly it."

"Mom's waiting," I push him out the door. "Have fun."

He waves and then he disappears, hand in hand with my mother, Bella.

As soon as he's out of sight, I hear Emmett's loud, booming laugh from across the yard. I even hear Rosalie's quiet, tinkling snicker. Then, I can't help but laugh too.

A/N: By the way, it was Emmett who put the 'things' in Jake's drawer.
