AN – I wrote this late in the night when I couldn't sleep and felt like writing something dramatic.

Moments

For both of them, it was the same. Whenever they looked back on that time in their lives, it seemed but a moment.

A moment, as you know, isn't very long. Normally, it leaves no impact on your life at all. It's like a breeze that passes you by; unimportant, insignificant. However, there are those exceptional few that do stand out. These are the moments that will burn fiercely in your memory evermore, no matter how many years should pass.

For her, this particular moment stood out simply because of the person she was sharing the moment with. For him, it stood out because it was the instant in which he was finally understood, and because…it was the first time that he truly understood another. An additional reason that this moment outshone any other was because it was a shared moment, one with the undertones of affection. It was the moment in which they both had first experienced the love of a man for a woman and a woman for a man.

However, there is another type of shared moment. This is the type that tears at your heart whenever you think of it. The type that, no matter how much you wish you could, you can never forget. For the two of them, this moment was the last time they were to see each other for several years. It was a moment drenched in hate, betrayal, and sorrow. It was a moment that they would forever look back on and wonder, "Why?" What would stand out most about this particular moment was the whiz of her arrow as it zoomed through the air, and the sickening thunk as the arrow penetrated his skin; sinking deeply into his flesh and pinning him to a tree.

Decades later, they were to have another moment. This was to be some months after he'd been awakened from the sleep forced upon him by the arrow, and when she was to be brought back from the dead, her soul forced into a clay body.

Full of shock, their eyes would meet; forgotten longings lightly stirring their hearts before quickly becoming overpowered by hate.

It was a moment. One they would not forget.
