Shameless silly, I know. But it's what I do best...or at least- no not gonna get off on that tangent. SO, I have so much more for a bagillion other things to work on...i really do. But this came to me a while ago, and I have just gotten it through beta-ing and all that good stuff. (This was done by the talented theviewfromhere and gPhoenix513

I don't own anything. Mr. Nolan's awesome brilliance is all his own. I just like to play.

When Ariadne asked Arthur to dinner, a lot of things happened all at once.

Arthur, who had his back to her, tensed, his muscles becoming taught underneath his gray suit.

Eames crossed his arms over his chest, an amused smile playing across his face. He sat in his chair, waiting for the scene to unfold.

Cobb mentally cursed himself for not speaking to Ariadne sooner about Arthur. He spared a glance at the girl and felt sorry for what was to come.

Yusuf, knowing exactly how the next few minutes would play out, grinned and pretended to not hear a thing.

Ariadne didn't like how long the moment was dragging out. She had assumed that Arthur's sly peck during the Fischer job meant that he was interested. She didn't know how someone like Arthur would even look at her, but nonetheless, he seemed to like her.

According the wide-eyed looks she got, however, she seemed to have the wrong idea.

The three onlookers stared as Arthur turned and spoke quietly to Ariadne. She blushed, mumbled something about coffee and rushed out of the warehouse tripping over a stray box in her way.

"I'm okay…" she said as she became impossibly redder and avoided Arthur's gaze, limping through the door.

The loud slam of a large iron door prompted Eames to emit a deep, hearty chuckle. He couldn't help himself. Watching sweet and innocent Ariadne get turned down by crisp and professional Arthur made him want to double over in laughter.

"Oh, my…poor girl." He said, wiping the tears building in the corners of his eyes.

Cobb ran a hand down his face, flustered. "I should have told her sooner, Arthur. I'm sorry for that."

He sat next to a still grinning Eames, a small smirk growing on his own face at the giddy Forger. Arthur finally faced them, smiling-beaming really- a rare occurrence to say the least as he settled against his desk.

Eames has suspected he would be annoyed, the default mode for their Arthur.

Amusement suited him, though, and Eames swore to bring that out in him as much as possible from then on.

"I cannot believe that just happened," Arthur sighed.

Yusuf, feeling the room needed a bit of reality, said, "It's not like you couldn't tell that was going to happen. She's a smart girl, but not even I can tell you're gay, Arthur. Before Eames told me, I was still under the assumption that you would pursue her."

Arthur was taken aback. While he was sure he didn't exude a flaming vibe of homosexuality, it wasn't hidden either. Eames' flirting and their subtle-not-so-subtle-exchanges on the job was evidence of that.

"I'm just glad I get to stop glaring at her when she's not looking. Those doe-eyes she made at you," Eames grinned at the memories, "were quite adorable."

His smiled dropped suddenly, however, and he turned serious. "I told you to let her walk in on us the other night. Would have avoided this entire thing with that. But no…you have to be professional at all times." He rolled his eyes.

"You know damn good and well why that would have been a bad idea." Arthur scoffed at his lover, trying to resume the work he was doing before the whole situation began.

Yusuf, not looking at anything but his chemicals, mumbled, "Talk about being caught with your pants down."
