The Legend of Zelda

A Hero's Father

Chapter one

The story begins.

A long time ago in a land named Hyrule, when the Deku Tree was still yet a sapling, there was utter chaos. Chaos that neither man nor beast has ever seen since that dreaded time. Words to describe these times were those such as betrayal, destruction, and death. The plains of Hyrule were not green with the luscious life of the grass, but it was red with the bloodshed that it has seen. The wicked king of evil, Gannon the First, was held responsible for these evil and rotten doings.

"Gannon of the Desert, you have been charged with murder of every degree, Destruction of villages, and the kidnapping of the Queen. What say you?" Says the king of Hyrule.

"I say that I have done those things, and I have no regrets of doing them."

"Then I have no choice but to commend you to death."

"Damn you, 'King of Hyrule'! You call yourself a king when you cant even stop this madness!?"

Gannon then turns and takes a sword from a soldier, stabs the soldier he took it from and runs towards the gates of the castle. "GUARDS SIEZE HIM AND BE SURE HE SUFFERS THE WORST OF DEATHS!" the king screams. The soldiers then run toward Gannon, but being the wicked king of evil, he grabs an innocent woman and holds her hostage.

"Take another step closer, you dogs, and her blood will be my sweet elixir!" Gannon warns them. The soldiers then back off of him. "Take heed, mortals, I am the king of evil, and nobody can stop me. Hyrule will be mine! You will bow to my name some day! Your children will be my soldiers! Fear my name!" Gannon screams. He takes the girl and slits her neck with the sword he took earlier. Ripping her head off of her dead corpse, he runs out the door and throws the head back to the altar of the king. It sits in a bloody pool on his altar.

"Bastard!" The king says.

Meanwhile in a small village,

"Exodus! Come see your son! He has learned to walk!!" A woman yells from one side of a room to the other. "Yes? Oh will you take a look at that, my son can walk now." The man says, excited and happy. The young boy trips over a wooden toy crafted by his father. He is dressed in a small green tunic.

"I do like the shirt you made him, my wife, it looks fine on him."

"I am glad you do, I made you one." She hands him a similar tunic, but it is gray.

"Very fine fabric, it will fit comfortably with the armor." The man says joyously. They hear a nock at the door. The man stands up and goes to the door. He opens the door and sees a royal guard drenched in blood.

"Honey, take Link and go upstairs, please."

"What's going on? OH THE GODDESSES!" She shrieks seeing the soldier.

"Take Link and go upstairs" the man repeats.

"O..Ok" she then takes the young child and goes up to the bedroom and locks the door.

"E…Exodus. You are the strongest of the soldiers, come to the castle with your armor. Gannon, has escaped. Th…The king needs you. Uhhhg…." The soldier collapses onto the floor. Exodus checks for a pulse, there is none. When he removes his hand, he can no longer see the tan of his skin. There is too much blood. He goes to retrieve his armor, and his swords and he kisses his wife and child goodbye. "Crystal, you have been an honor to call my wife, and I am glad that you bore my son. Do not cry for me if I do not return,"

"Where are you going?"

"The king needs my services, if anybody comes to the door, do not open it. An assassin has been about. His name is Gannon, I think. He was at the kings castle today, and he has escaped."

"Will you be coming back?"

"I don't know, good bye."

"I love you!"

The man, dressed in armor, holding two swords he crafted, mounts his horse and gallops towards the castle.
