This started as an errant desire to write a songfic and then escalated quickly into a multi-chapter fuckfest featuring multiple pairings. Such is the nature of my brain.

Tea Party—

Princess Peach toweled her hair dry, a rare frown gracing her lips. Her roommates were out save Samus, who wouldn't have entered her room anyway and would therefore be unable to comment, yet she felt strangely guilty about the expression. Despite the Super Smash Bros tournament being held in an entirely different universe from the one that held her beloved Mushroom Kingdom, she still felt as though it was a princess's duty to uphold certain standards.

A princess must remain genial and civil at all times.

That was what she reminded herself, but the corners of her mouth stubbornly refused to turn upwards. She had too much on her mind. For the last month or so she had engaged in behaviours unbefitting of a princess and, though her loyal retainers Mario and Luigi were always in proximity, the brave brothers could do nothing to save her from herself.

Not when Bayonetta was involved.

The blonde sighed and let the towel drop to her bedspread as she folded her hands in her lap. The room around her was an explosion of pastel pink—her trademark colour—and shades of white. The aforementioned woman had remarked that it felt like walking into a wedding cake with no small amount of disdain.

Who had even asked her?

A knock on Peach's door made the princess's heart skip an anxious beat, but she knew the tall, confident woman would never have knocked.

"Come in," she responded with far more cheer than she felt.

The door opened and in came Zelda, Hylian princess, Brawler, and one of Peach's current roommates. She was an elegant young woman with long russet hair and a regal, benevolent carriage that Peach had never quite been able to manage. The Hylian smiled, though blue eyes expressed concern when she took in the state of the other princess. "What's troubling you, Peach?"

A princess must always consider the well-being of others.

Zelda was a model princess.

When the other woman asked if she could sit, she patted the bedspread next to her and Zelda lifted the hem of her purple and white dress before joining her.

"Talk to me," she commanded, albeit gently. When Peach refused to meet her gaze, she hooked a finger under the young woman's chin. "Something is clearly on your mind."

On any other occasion, their proximity might have been titillating- and why shouldn't it be? Zelda was a gorgeous young woman, a devoted ruler, and a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. She perfectly straddled the line between old fashioned views of femininity and a more modern, take charge kind of woman and she was one of the kindest people Peach knew in this world or her own. If it wasn't for the fact that she was pretty sure the brunette was deeply in love with the silent green-garbed warrior from her home world, she would have made a move a long time ago.

Peach returned to the present moment with a small smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "It's nothing, Zel'. What did you need?"

"Rosalina wanted to have lunch together. You don't seem as though you'd intended to go out, however."

She was referring, of course, to the pink satin nightgown Peach was wearing. The blonde opened her mouth to politely reject the invitation, only to pause.

A princess must make and maintain public appearances.

"No, that sounds lovely. Just give me a minute to change."

Zelda excused herself to give the other princess privacy while she changed, but not without a backwards glance as she shut the door behind her.

In the food court, Rosalina was already sitting at a table outside of their favourite café, her star-shaped companion Luma in her lap. Shoulder-length pale blonde hair fell across her face in a side sweep bang and flipped up at the ends. The floor-length cyan gown she typically wore fell off slender shoulders and there was a star shaped brooch pinned to the front of it. She had ordered tea and poured it into pristine white tea cups just as soon as the duo joined her. As though it had been orchestrated, the server droid that ran the establishment wheeled over and she ordered their usuals with a smile before Peach and Zelda had even gotten comfortable.

A princess must be an attentive hostess whenever the situation calls for it.

"I'm so glad the both of you could join me," the blonde keeper of the galaxy enthused. Luma chirped, as though in agreement, and bounced across the table for his customary petting from either girl before returning to his mistress's lap. You wouldn't know by just looking at the deceptively cutesy creature that he was the blonde's main weapon in the arena.

Zelda and Rosalina immediately began to talk about the new boutique opening up in the shopping strip and, though she commented on occasion, Peach just wasn't into it. Yes, it would be lovely to get something new to wear with the other girls, but her mind kept wandering back to her lover. Lover, not partner. Bayonetta wasn't one for relationships-or so she insisted whenever the subject arose. She was model tall, curvy, dark-haired, and that British accent was to die for. Why she was playing around with the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach wasn't sure, but—

"Peach?"

The blonde blinked. "Mm?"

Rosalina pursed her lips. "Are you even listening to us?"

"She's been rather distracted of late," Zelda divulged. "Is something on your mind, Peach?"

"Ah, no. Sorry. I'm just a bit tired."

Zelda and Rosalina shared a look.

"She's lying."

"Mmmhm."

They crossed their arms, full bottom lips protruding, and blue eyes wide in a classic princess pout.

Pinned down and unable to deny those big blue eyes, Peach could only throw up her hands and admit, "I'm... seeing someone."

That wasn't technically a lie...

"That's great, Peach!" Rosalina beamed. She was always supportive, always happy so long as her friends were happy.

"Who's the lucky guy?" Zelda mirrored the expression, though her tone wasn't quite as enthused. She seemed pensive, for whatever reason-as though she had something on her mind that she wasn't saying.

"Woman," Peach corrected quietly. To her surprise, neither woman seemed bothered or particularly astonished by that.

"Well? Quit stalling and tell us."

A princess mustn't kiss and tell... Right?

"I-I couldn't," Peach stammered, her face heating. She didn't like how enthusiastic the two seemed about the topic.

The server returned with their meals and the other two thankfully settled down, though Zelda gave Peach a stern look that suggested this wasn't the last she'd heard of the subject. Why were they so interested anyway? Peach had had plenty of male suitors back home and quite a few here.

By the time they were halfway through the meal, the server brought a second teapot and Zelda served them with measured movements. They chatted idly about the state of the tournament this season, exchanging combat tips against the various opponents they'd faced and giving their predictions as to who the champion would be this time around.

Just as soon as the server bot cleared away their dishes, Zelda and Rosalina rounded on Peach, actually moving seats so that they were on either side of her.

Oh goodness.

She was poked on one side and pinched on the other and, as she dissolved into giggles, she tried to stifle them so as not to make a scene.

A princess must... Oh, who was she kidding?

"Okay, okay!" Other diners, however few, were starting to stare. "It's Bayonetta. We've been having sex a few times a week and she doesn't seem interested in anything else."

Zelda blinked and her expression became thoughtful. Rosalina's quiet gasp was unexpected, however, and she suddenly found herself the center of attention.

"Rose..."

"Did you...?"

Now it was as her turn to fidget uncomfortably and Luma cooed. "I may have... a few times."

Peach's stomach flip-flopped disappointedly. She knew the witch didn't exactly value whatever it was that they shared the way she did, but she had at least hoped she was the only—

"So have I, actually." Zelda sounded amused and she shrugged when the other two gaped. "It was just once, however. We all have needs of a more carnal nature, as you are both well aware, it seems."

Zelda, too?

... Zelda liked women?!

The second mind-blowing realization was the more impactful of the two and, despite her initial disappointment, a faint glimmer of hope warmed Peach's battered heart.

"Wait, I thought you and Palutena—?" The Hylian was hushed swiftly and violently, to which she raised an eyebrow.

"That was before we made it official and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't bring it up."

"It's not as though she can hear us…" Zelda wrinkled her nose.

"She's a goddess," Rosalina said, as though that explained everything.

"Right… My lips are sealed. How are things between you two, by the way?"

Rosalina's entire countenance softened, her lips curving into a goofy, pleased smile, and the other girls cooed and jostled her.

"You two are just too cute together." Peach chuckled.

"I'm happy for you, Rose. We expect full details when you finally seal the deal with her."

"ZELDA."

Their laughter echoed through the nearly empty establishment. Peach was heartened by their company and she rested a hand over Zelda's, squeezing briefly. Their gazes met and the smile she received from the Hylian princess made her heart skip a beat.

"You three are unusually lively," a new voice remarked, drawing the young women's attention. The blue-haired girl who had been walking past was dressed in a blue tunic dress, under which she wore a dark blue knitted romper. Blue pauldrons trimmed with gold were on slender shoulders and her gloves and thigh-high boots were also blue in colour, trimmed with white.

Lucina, as she was called, had a little brown takeout bag in her hand and it seemed as though she had intended to dine in her room. When the girls invited her to join them, she smiled demurely and protested that she wouldn't want to intrude.

"Nonsense. You are always welcome, my dear," Zelda insisted. The blondes echoed the sentiment and so Lucina pulled up a chair.

"How are you enjoying the tournament?"

She was a newer addition to the roster, hailing from a world where knights on horses and evil sorcerers/warlords attempting to take over were a commonplace thing. Peach was glad she just had to worry about the giant, surly Koopa who also happened to be taking part in the Smash Brothers arena.

"Everyone here has been very kind." She smiled as she spoke. "It has taken some getting used to, but I'm glad for the chance to hone my skills."

"Did you also fight back in your world?" Rosalina questioned. They had all seen the lightning fast strikes and flourishes the youngest of the group was capable of. There was no way she had learned such mastery over the ornate blade at her hip overnight.

Lucina's expression became troubled, but only slightly. "Yes."

She didn't elaborate and Peach quickly steered the conversation back to a more neutral subject. "Do you come here often? It's our favourite place to sit down and unwind."

"The tea is great," Zelda supplied, raising a hand to call the server droid over with an extra teacup. "And the food is, too."

Here, she smiled sheepishly. "I've never actually tried the food. I've had a bit of a sweet tooth of late."

"Then you should try Peach's baking. It's always so sweet and decadent."

Peach fidgeted, her face heating. Was she imagining that playful tone or...? "I'm not all that great, Zel', but thank you."

"Modesty." Rosalina scoffed. "It's settled. Peach will make snacks for our next tea party."

"Excuse me?"

Lucina raised an eyebrow. "Tea party?"

"Or wine."

"Or shots that one time Rose got tipsy and—"

"Enough, Peach!"

"Oh, I remember that night. It's a good thing it was her turn to host, otherwise I'm not certain we'd have been able to get her back to her room."

"Zelda!?" They burst out laughing as Rosalina hid her face behind a dozing Luma who trilled questioningly and wriggled in her grasp. Peach reached out and gave the other blonde's shoulder a squeeze and she huffed, but lowered her Luma pillow. "Before you go colouring the girl's perceptions of me, perhaps you should extend an invitation to her."

"Oh, no, I couldn't—"

"None of that. Would you like to join us, Lucina?"

"I would love to." The blue-haired girl beamed. "Actually, my roommates collect vintage wines. They wouldn't mind if we opened a few bottles if the three of you were to come over."

"We'll see you tonight."

...

Wine had been poured and though she had initially declined partaking, Lucina had a glass in her hands and she was laughing merrily with the other girls.

"Oh my goodness, you can't be serious." The blue-haired girl's eyes shone.

"Mhm." Rose shook her head. "Rumor has it Mr. Strife carries that Buster Sword to compensate in... Other areas."

"I'm more surprised that he's into women!"

More laughter and whole-hearted agreements greeted the sentiment.

Lucina's room was Spartan in decor, all high stone ceilings and silken red rugs and banners. The fireplace roared in the corner of the room, casting a cozy warmth over the girls who sat on a bearskin rug before it. A gift from a brave, often too-serious knight, according to the blue-haired princess.

Her roommates, Roy and Ike, hailed from the same universe, though their worlds ran parallel to hers. They had taken to spoiling the young lady and were happy to provide her and her friends with all that they needed before bidding them a good evening.

They were a handsome couple, too.

"Okay, okay; I shared something. It's only fair if you girls do the same." She looked to the blonde princess sitting closest to Zelda. "Peach, you've been quiet."

She'd been stealing glances at Zelda, who even with her indolent posture exuded grace. She cleared her throat, smiling guiltily. "I can't say I've ever thought about Cloud—or any man, really—like that."

"We can talk about women, then. You two share a living space with Ms. Aran, don't you?"

"We do. She's the silent strong type, but she's a sweetheart when you get to know her."

Rosalina scoffed. "I think she's more interested in what Samus is like outside of her Zero Suit."

Peach shrugged. Samus struck her as the type who was married to her mission and she wasn't one to pursue women when there wasn't any hope of reciprocation. ... Bayonetta aside, apparently.

"Sorry, she's more into a different catsuit-wearing woman. Just as curvy, but far more sassy."

"Ugh. Rose."

"Maybe she prefers brunettes?" Zelda winked and Peach fiddled with the hem of her dress.

"Ah. You mean the Umbra Witch?" Lucina asked. "She's a... Lively woman."

"You've met?"

The small smile that curved her lips was more telling than any admission could have been and Peach scowled. Had Bayonetta really been making her way through the female portion of the Smash Bros roster? Actually, that wasn't so hard to believe. What was so difficult for her to swallow was the fact that she had allowed herself to be swept up in the witch's attentions. No more.

"Whoa."

Zelda patted her leg. "You don't need her, Peach. She clearly has no intention of committing to anyone save her own interests."

That didn't make it any less painful to accept.

She lowered her gaze, tears stinging her eyes, and a silence fell over the room. Lucina refilled wine glasses, though when she came to Peach's, she was waved away.

"I apologize for bringing it up."

"No, it's fine. I knew, I just... Didn't think she'd hit so close to home, so to speak."

Rosalina blushed and Zelda shrugged.

Lucina nodded. "So... what was it like for you?"

"I'm not drunk enough for this conversation."

Zelda gestured for the wine bottle and once Lucina relinquished it, she didn't bother pouring some out; she handed the entire thing to Peach. Sharp blue eyes bored into the blonde until she took a small sip, swishing the liquid around her mouth before swallowing.

"What was that? You're a big girl, Peach—drink up."

The light in blue eyes was intriguing, if provocative, and Peach accepted the challenge. While she downed a good portion of the bottle, their hostess opened another.

Then, "So who wants to kiss and tell first? You've got to say who you did and describe how you did it to the best of your ability."

Okay, she definitely wasn't drunk enough for this.

"I'll go." All eyes went to the speaker and the princesses got comfortable.

It was going to be a night to remember, to say the least.
