He Should Have Listened
By Moeru H.
Kuni Tori. These two words formed the promise he pledged he would help build; and he would be the first man to see the glory of that promise. So, in anticipation, he did what was directed to him.
As a master tactician, everything appeared to be going according to plan.
Until a determined legend decided to interfere.
This legend, he observed, was not much different from his lord. Both possessed exceptional strength. Both were dedicated to the rightness of their cause. Thus, because of the similarities, he couldn't completely hate the man. Quite the opposite, he would admit that he admired the man, tenacious enough to face his master, whom he believed to be the strongest.
But seeing one by one the defeat of his lord's best fighters, he would also admit that this legend had become a seriously thick barrier to that long-awaited promise.
With his brilliant mind, he had his own ideas to assure his lord's victory. Yet only his fervent faith in his lord hindered him to carry those ideas out that even the chance from a single bullet outweighed it.
Then…
His trust was bitterly betrayed.
With his own eyes, he saw the crumbling of a great promise. Burnt and reduced to ashes.
Yet, he didn't want it to end just like that. He trusted that there was still something to be done. But nobody listened, nobody cared.
Again, he was deceived.
So in the end, his master was right all along. "If you trust, you will surely be betrayed." He should have just listened.

A/N: Done the same time I did "The Meaning of Silence". Didn't post it at once b/c I wanted to revise it. But something must have happened that made me completely forget all about it. Haha! I'm not satisfied with my characterization of this guy (too many contradictions) but I so like the idea. Just hope you enjoyed this. Thanks for reading.:P
