Perhaps he could have done something had he actually known, but he didn't.
She wasn't going to tell him ether.
Sure, she was downright miserable, but she still wouldn't tell him.
They were meant to be. She knew it.
She had known it since that day on the train, first year.
If she had told him it would have caused nothing but trouble, and of course Dumbledore, knowing everything – had also advised her against it.
It would put her in danger. As if she wasn't already in danger.
She highly doubted Voldemort he-who-must-not-be-named would have wanted to kill her more or less based on who she was in love with.
Love, yes she was in love with him. It was not worth denying anymore.

Hermione sometimes wondered weather it would be best to tell him. She had never been the kind to with hold information for fear that the other person wouldn't like it or wouldn't feel the same.
She reasoned with herself that it must have been Dumbledore's warning, no matter how silly it had actually sounded to her at the time.
No matter what the reason was for her silence, it made it no easier on her.
Most of her days were spent watching him, waiting, and hoping for the day when he would break the silence between them. It never changed.
