How were they supposed to know?

Authors note:

This is my first Fic, I have been thinking about it for a while but with life and exams it's been a little crazy. I have finally finished exams and with OITNB season 6 coming out it only seems fitting that I start writing now. I'm really into the thought of Laylor (Laura Prepon and Taylor Schilling) seen as it may never happen in real life, I figured I would give my spin as to how it would happen. I hope you enjoy this it could be a little rough around the edges as it's the first one. Anyway now im rambling anyway enjoy.

Chapter 1: The unexpected

TAYLOR POV

Well today is the day. The day my time as a struggling actress may come to an end. I have had enough of the small acting parts, I want a role I can be proud of, a role which may change my life forever. It's not like I have had a hard life, my family loves me, I'm healthy…ish. But it's just not enough I want something that means something, and in the future, look back and tell my kids, grandkids or whatever that I was a part of that. And this could be my chance, the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black could be that role I'm proud of. I have read the script by Jenji Kohen and it's amazing, I'm hoping to bag the role of Piper Chapman, the blonde not so squeaky clean ex-girlfriend to a member of an international drug cartel.

The waiting room is plain, and it's like the clock that's ticking on the wall is ringing through my brain as my interview slot comes closer. My palms are sweating, but I'm so excited. This role feels so right, it feels like it could be the start of something. The door across from me opens and out comes a small woman with glasses and frizzy hair.

She walks over to me and outstretches her hand "Hi! I'm Jenji Kohen and you must be Taylor, wow they were right you look quite like Piper Kerman" I stand and grab her hand giving it a polite shake "Thank you Piper Kerman's story is amazing! And thank you she is a beautiful woman" I smile sincerely. she looks me up and down "Come on let's see what you've got" she grins and walks back through the door with me hot on her heels.

I scan the room as I walk through the door there are 2 other women in the room, one middle aged blonde haired who I'm guessing is Piper Kerman. And the other is some dark-haired women, I can't take my eyes off her as I walk across the room. She is currently looking down at her phone, she has the most beautiful features but she looks vaguely familiar who is she? As we approach she lifts her head from her phone and smiles at me. Her smile is beautiful it's mesmerising who is this woman?

Jenji sits in the empty chair between the two women. Jenji looks at the two women "Taylor this is Piper Kerman as you know the series will be based around her life and book, and this is Laura Prepon she has got the part of Alex who is one of Pipers love interests" I feel myself blush a little as the words "love interest" settles in my head.

"Right Taylor we want to see you read with Laura, we need to see if you have chemistry" Laura smiles at me. God her face is just so beautiful. Jenji hands us both a script which has been turned to the correct scene. Laura and I share a look and a smile before I begin to read.

"Oh, gosh!"

"Am I crazy or do these cards smell faintly like urine? smell that"

"Eww! Stop it. Get it away from my face" Laura chuckles before she says her next line, I can't help but look at her smile it's just so beautiful.

"What? Is it bringing back memories?"

"What?"

"Fifty shades of crazy eyes"

It says I'm meant to laugh in the script, but I laugh because of the face Laura pulls whilst she says them lines. I can't tell whether she is disgusted or amused by the image, but however she feels about it she's making me laugh like a giddy teenager.

"Stop it!"

"Smell it, Smell it. Why are you trying to look at my cards?"

"I'm not looking at your cards!"

"Don't you look at my cards! I know how you play" She gives me a wide smile

"Stop it. Cut it out"

"Why are you doing that?"

"It's weird how normal this feels"

"What?"

"I feel like I'm 23 and no time has passed"

She looks into my eyes with her gorgeous ocean-like emerald eyes, I could just disappear into them. Shit! no Taylor keep listening.

"Well I think that… when you have a connection with someone, it never really goes away yano?"

"Scene!" Jenji yells pulling me out of my trance as I blush slightly "Taylor that was great! You have similar features to Piper and you and Laura seem to have great chemistry. How would you like the part?"

Laura smiles wide at me as I look between the women, she gives me a little nod as though she knows I need the encouragement to find my voice "Ye… Yes! Thank you so much!" I grin. Laura walks over and pulls me into a bear hug, I laugh and hug her back. I want to get lost in this hug she smells amazing, but then she pulls back "Well done! You were amazing Tay!... wait do you mind me calling you Tay?"

I laugh at her little stumble could she get any cuter! "of course you can, pretty much everyone calls me that anyway" I laugh as she smiles back at me. Jenji and Piper stand and hug me whilst congratulating me, we talk for a little while longer about the start day for filming and contracts. Before I know it me and Laura are walking out to our cars to leave.

When get to Laura's car she pulls me in for one more hug. I could get used to this "Well congrats once more on your amazing audition, I guess I will be seeing you when we start filming. Here's my number text me if you need anything" she passes me her card. Then she flashes me that intoxicating smile once more, and before I know it she gets in her car and drives off.

As I sit in my car and think about the events that happened within the last 2 hours, I can't help but think about the dark-haired beauty. I have spent less than 2 hours with her and she's already in my brain. I think this show and the goddess that comes wrapped in it like a present at Christmas is gonna make my life a lot more interesting.
