Daycare

"Be friends with me!"

Nico looked up from his paper (filled with unintelligible scrawls), and stared at the blonde in front of him. "What?" He asked, blinking curiously. A 6 year old Will Solace held out a paper, staring determinedly into a 5 year old Nico's eyes. Nico slowly took the paper and began to read. The paper read:

Reasons to be friends with me:

1. I think you are nice

2. I am also nice

Please be friends with me!

Nico looked up at Will, who had clasped his hands behind his back and was bouncing nervously on the balls of his feet. "M-my mommy helped me write it." Will said, looking down abashed. Nico set down his crayon and held the paper in both hands, looking at Will. He wasn't embarrassed or angry, just curious. His mother had told him that he needed more friends, but what was the point? He had been perfectly fine alone. Why did Will want to become friends with him anyway? Will had plenty of friends. Nico's small mind settled on an answer. He would be friends with him, just to know what it was like. Nico nodded. "Okay." He said, setting Will's note down next to his drawing. A huge grin split Will's face in half, and he grabbed Nico's hand and began to pull him over to meet other children. This wouldn't be so bad after all, Nico thought, as he was introduced to the others in his daycare.
