The Legend of
The Wood
Once upon a time, in 1999, band camp was being held at Lincoln Park Elementary School. A sophomore trumpet player, Allison Krise, picked up a piece of wood on the playground and headed over to her friend, a fellow sophomore trumpet player and one-day drum major first class, Ross Wilkerson.
"Ross," she said, holding the small piece of wood out to him, "I found this piece of wood, keep it forever."
Ross took the chunk of wood and put it in his pocket. "I will Al," he said.
The next day, they went back to band camp at Lincoln Park and Al went up to Ross.
"Do you still have to wood, Ross?" asked Al.
Ross produced the wood from his pocket. "Yes Al, here it is."
Three years later, Ross still had the piece of wood and it was time for him and his fellow seniors to do their segments for the senior video. Ross and Al went out to the football field at G-CHS, lined up with the first goal posts and the tall radio tower thing sticking out of the press box. While being filmed, Ross and Al buried the wood, telling the underclassmen to someday go and find the wood, and if they did, to tell Ross about it.
So here end the Legend of The Wood.
