So I've watched Episode 8 and wow what Stefan said to Damon had me shocked, even though it was perfectly legitimate for an ex-boyfriend to say that to his brother about their girlfriend.

BUT as you know, my Damon/Stefan feelings wouldn't leave me alone so here's a two-parter of brotherly love right after he said those words :D

Part One (Stefan's POV):

"No, it's impossible for her to be so blind that she doesn't see how wrong you are for her!"

Stefan instantly regretted the words the moment they came out.

How could he be so horrible to the man who had lost Katherine, Rose and Andie?

And what if there had been others over the countless years they had been separate, like this Charlotte they were going to see?

Katherine had been Stefan's fault. Well, that was how Damon saw it.

Stefan had captured the love of the vampire he had been compelled not to fear. But he hadn't been compelled to love her, as he'd always thought.

So he supposed his love for her had stopped her loving Damon, which made it his fault that Damon had lost her.

Rose had been a loss felt by everyone on behalf of Damon. Stefan would never forget how Damon attempted to hide his feelings under the influence of blood and alcohol.

But Stefan saw through it, as always.

Andie. Oh god. He wouldn't - couldn't - think of her.

The guilt surged up and threatened to overwhelm him with memories of his recent Ripper days, but he tried to squash it with the truth that he had been protecting his brother, as always.

But Damon facing the prospect of losing Elena?

Stefan's head was full of jarring emotions.

He was sorry that his brother only had a day to confirm her (probably influenced by the sire bond) feelings, but he was relieved because...just because...well...

Elena was Stefan's.

They were supposed to be together, everyone said so!

True love. Soul mates.

They were soul mates, and the sire bond between Damon and Elena ruined everything.

Anger erupted inside of him at the thought of this influencing the reason he and Elena weren't together anymore.

As a human she had been sure of what she wanted, even if she did harbour slight feelings for Damon.

Stefan had been her choice before she became a vampire! And even when she was going to die in that cell, she had told him that she didn't regret choosing him.

Not. One. Bit.

Which was why he desperately needed to sever this sire bond.

But even if she did still choose Damon this time round...

Stefan couldn't live for as long as he could (immortality sucked sometimes) hating his brother for something he couldn't control.

Yes, there was irritation that the one girl - Elena - whom Stefan wanted for his own, HAD for his own, was not his anymore.

He wanted more than anything to have her back in his arms, where she belonged.

But watching Damon turn away from him with that look in his eyes...Stefan knew he had to make this right.
