It starts when Hermione believes is the end. After her marriage falls apart, when her children see Hogwarts as their home and their house as a cold and spotless inn, and Hermione drowns herself into her work.
Parkinson seems to be on every office that Hermione walks in on the Ministry, an arrogant but trustworthy auror, a Slytherin with no marks on both her forearm and her name. Hermione tries to be cordial but Parkinson still finds entertaining to tease her. A joke on Gryffindor or her hero status from time to time while staring at her with a pleased smile on her face, that gets wider every time Hermione loses her patience and snaps back at her.
Hermione doesn't understand how a battle of wits became shamelessly flirting but it did, and she tries not to blush every time Parkinson stares at her when they meet, seeming pleased with the sight and eager to see more. And she doesn't know what to do with herself when she realizes that she started doing the same.
Their first kiss is initiated by Hermione, after a whole day of teasing and casual touches that made her lose her patience and shoves the auror rougly against a wall, kissing her with an intensity that she only had when she was young and brave, in the heat of a war.
Parkinson smirks against her lips and Hermione is angry and confused because she is probably just looking for a game and she is way too tired and hurt to fall for another selfish asshole. But then the auror breaks the kiss, her smirk replaced by a small hesitant smile and brings their lips together for a gentler, longer kiss, and Hermione moans her first name believing that maybe it's not the end.
They still argue a lot, but they both agree that it actually really started when Hermione breathlessly moaned "Pansy," against Parkinson's lips.
