Jason was the first person Reyna met when she arrived at Camp Jupiter. She had been a distrustful, aprehensive girl in bloody, war torn clothing and he a noble, stoic boy in Roman armor. When they were fourteen, they had dreamed of being Praetors together, having no idea just how close to reality . He had been a natural warrior, fearless and strong, while she was the daughter of Belladonna, a genius strategist and a skillful fighter. Both rose through the ranks effortlessly, but both realized that with great strength, came great loneliness. Before long they had become each other's closest companion and most trusted confidant.

By the time they had both been promoted to Praetor, Reyna thought there could have been something there. Being a Roman leader meant displaying confidence, maturity and strength all the time and to everyone. Jason had been the only person she could show weakness in front of, the only one who she trusted, and for the longest time, she thought he felt the same way about her.

Then he had disappeared. Everything in Reyna cried out to her to search the world for him, to gather all her forces to find her dear companion, but she couldn't, She was the Praetor of the twelfth legion and her first priority was to Rome, even if it meant she would rule without a single confidant. It was a stressful time, war was brewing, her soldiers were on edge and it was all she could do to keep herself from falling apart, much less an entire city. But she managed. She did it because there was no one else who could.

When Percy showed up on her doorstep, she thought maybe she had found someone to fill the void. He wasn't Jason, but he would have to do. No one else could match Jason's caliber, after all.

Months later, Jason returned, minus his memories. Instead he brought a dainty new girlfriend in the place of everything they had shared. Reyna didn't think anything could hurt more. She had put so much into Jason's return, as if everything would be solved if he just came back to her. She couldn't have been more wrong. As if it wasn't' enough, he betrayed Rome and took Percy with him, leaving her, once again, alone to take on the world.

He had replaced her and everything they ever were, or could had been. Without her his world kept on turning. Without her he still felt happiness, still felt whole. Without him, Reyna just felt empty. How Reyna felt didn't matter though. All she wanted to do was sew the pieces of her broken heart together, but she still had a city to protect, a people to lead, a war to prevent. Even if it meant she couldn't fight for the only companion she ever had, and the only man she could have loved.
