Edward stared at the strange anomaly of food sitting before him, his eyes wide. It was something his younger wanted to try but, due to his unique condition, was unable to do as he wished. As a result, Al had begged and pleaded with Edward for a favour, for him to eat this strange anomaly of food sitting before him. He continued to stare.
It really was not so much the shape of this food, this pepperoni pizza as his brother called it. If anything, it resembled a pie, and Edward liked pie. Yet, this particular . . . pie was not made from apples or cherries or blueberries or even strawberries. Rather, it had strange little circles of meat – Al called it pepperoni – and a pale white cheese, all gooey and melted in appearance. He even smelled hints of tomatoes as well as herbs and spices coming from the unusual concoction. Well, it at least had a unique if not somewhat pleasing aroma.
Tentatively, Edward reached for a slice and took a bite. Across from him sat Al, watching him expectantly as he started to chew the cheesy, spicy, tomato-y conglomeration. If he thought it were possible, Edward would have believed his younger brother was holding his breath! Such a notion would have been ridiculous, in reality. After all, it was Edward eating this pizza and not Al!
After a moment or so of chewing his bite of pizza, Edward swallowed, his expression one of contemplation. It was different, this pepperoni pizza. It was a food experience of a new sort. Who would have thought someone could create such an unusual tasting pie?
The contemplation of this new experience, however, did not last long. With a wide grin, Edward tore into the slice with a great gusto. Al laughed a little.
"I guess it means you like it."
