PROLOUGE
My legs were weak, I was losing strength, the gap between us was closing and I knew it was almost over. I ran across smoking debris and fiery hot remains of once beautiful buildings, dodging and jumping, waving in and out of too big obstacles, trying hard to keep my balance and think of a way out of this. My heart panged as I remembered my family at home waiting in anxiety for me to return safe. I knew they'd be worrying and praying I was okay. I knew when I didn't return they'd cry tears so big, tears so salty that my home town down in the valley would become a sea so full of mourning people would avoid it at all costs. There was no hope left in me. I could only keep on running until my legs gave in. There was a sudden silence apart from the thudding of my feet and I knew the monster had taken its leap, I knew I was about to die. Then I felt the whoosh of air around me being taken into its huge lungs and I felt my head grow light, with the lack of oxygen going to my brain I felt weaker than ever and I felt my legs buckle, the icy cool breath of the monster surrounded me and as I took my final breaths I heard a gunshot, and then I just…..blacked out.
