Hades
It was a particularly uneventful day in the Underworld and Hades was in a particularly bad mood. Too many pleas of resurrection from Demi-god lovers of useless humans, not to mention, the Fates were driving him almost insane. He was the king of this world, surely he can rule without guidance - as he had been for eternity. The throne room was the only place he really felt like a king, with grand charcoal pillars 20 feet tall, onyx marble floor traced in an intricate design only a god could create, the enormous glass roof - resembling that of a dark royal conservatory, but, most of all, the majestic throne in the centre of it all. It was breathtaking, with the most careful figures carved from the darkest of stone and the black velveteen quilting diligently stitched over the arms of the chair. It was almost as gloriously fear-inducing as the very god whom sat upon it.
Hades had been alive for millennia now. Yes, he has had his fair share of fun, but, he has not yet married. He craved excitement. He craved love.
"Hades! Make your way to the room of scrolls immediately, you lazy oaf!" Shouted a fiery female voice.
It was Nyx, Goddess of night. She was always roaming around somewhere in the underworld. She was good company but frequently overbearing. Hades had thought once or twice about making Nyx his queen, but then immediately erased those thoughts. She was too loud for his liking, and much like a sister and trusted advisor. Hades knew Nyx would only laugh at the offer if he ever made one - so, he didn't.
"Why, it is my darling little Nyx. What do you need now?" Hades teased. "You know, depending on the severity of this request, you could make it seem as if you want to see me? Manners, my dear Nyx, go a long way."
"Save me the lecture, Hades, and come and see this message. This, my lord, will not disappoint." Nyx called back.
"As you wish." Hades replied with a strict air of nonchalance.
Hades swept into the room of scrolls, still smiling from the smart retorts of his friend until he saw just who this message was from.
"Zeus." Hades breathed.
"Hmph, yes." Nyx cut in before Hades could process what this meant. "It seems as though you have a new neice that you are obligated to see. Demeter's child this time, no surprise there." She smugly stated.
Hades felt a pull towards Mount Olympus. He never usually did. Zeus had too many children to even count, and each new birth meant Hades having to leave his pit to bestow a gift on the ungrateful creature. But this time was different. Hades wanted to go, to reward the child of Demeter with a gift of the Underworld.
"Goddess of Spring." spoke Nyx, pulling Hades out of his thoughts. "Named,"
Hades felt a shock of lightning go up his spine as he whispered, "Persephone."
