That's what everyone thinks when they look at Light. But deep down, L knows Light isn't as perfect as he looks.

They both try to save it, both in their own twisted way. But can mankind really be saved?

Neither can fully relax……The presence of each other won't allow them to. They are afraid to show weakness, to betray their emotions.

Both make sacrifices. But L could never understand how Kira can sacrifice masses. It just can't be right…..can it?

Nothing seems secure anymore. Not with Light chained to him, following his every move.

Sometimes, the silence between them is deafening and Light wants to scream just to hear some noise.

It has been so long since he slept peacefully. He doesn't like -need- to sleep much, but sometimes it just can't be helped and as sleep claims him, he wonders if he'll wake up again.

He watches Light and a humorless smile crosses his lips. The one he's looking for is so close and yet he can't do anything.

He never asked to be one. He didn't have a choice.

They both wear one. They wear it to hide their feelings, their pain, the truth.

They're chained together, yet they observe each other from distance. Coldly, silently, aware of the others abilities.

He took everything from him and now, there's only one more thing to take.

There's only one person besides himself that knows his real name. To others he's just L.
16. Surrender
He won't surrender. Never.

The dark shadows under his eyes will never disappear. His work won't allow them to.

Their relationship was never romantic. It was never meant to be.

L doesn't like to hear promises from him. They're all lies.

Those touches make his skin burn and tingle. He can't help it.

It's like a competition between them. A battle of wits with no winner.

He looks into the mirror and his image almost crumbles. He won't be able to take it much longer.

He vehemently denies it, but for some reason, L can't believe him.
